This German version of American and British rolling mats is made of ultralight and durable isolating EVA foam to protect the sleeper from cold, wet and debris. Thanks to its crease design, the mat can be folded into alternative sizes: folded it can be used as extra padding in the backpack or sitting cushion, while unfolded it will insulate from the ground.

This is the MFH very good reproduction of the Bundeswehr (German Army) sleeping mat/pad. It was designed to be a modular component of the formerly issued (but still available as original surplus/copy) German Mountain/Alpine rucksack. The interior of which has a large rear "pocket" which was designed to store this sleeping pad, acting as both a "frame" and cushion when the pack is worn. This pad was designed for the purpose of a barrier between the cold ground/wetness/dampness and the user. It does have a tiny thickness of foam padding, which actually provides a small degree of comfort/take the edge off a rock, twig, surface root, uneven ground that would be very uncomfortable to sleep without the pad. It also serves very well as a protective barrier against rips or punctures for an air mattress. It's a perfect match to my U.S. GI "semi self inflatable" 1.5" thick bivy air mattress. In its folded state, it serves as a nice seating or kneeling pad. It could also be used as a prone shooters mat, as a means to collect emergency rainwater or used as a very rudimentary sun shade. If you can't find/afford the actual issue pad, this one won't disappoint. It does have some extra "folding creases" that I can't explain. Despite it's virtues, it is a bit pricey for what it is. But it does what it is designed for, and perhaps a little more.

Obviously this isn't as comfortable as a thick sleeping mat would be, however considering the given thickness this is stupidly comfy. I am quite short so it is a bit long for me, if I fold over the top square and put it between my arm and head, this makes a decent pillow!The material feels of very genuine and high quality make.The West German army used this origami sleeping matt design to provide the support (skeleton) for their rucksack. One could remove the skeleton of their pack and replace it with this. So it takes up a great deal less space than a rolled up matt and can be used as a pack's skeleton. It is also very comfortable to sit on while it is folded up.very pleased with this

Not made for comfort but perfect to put under something you don't want wet or punctured. Made to be used as a frame for a German alpine pack. Lightweight and tough, ideal to throw in your bag and should last a lifetime.

Multi use item fits in US Alice rucksack frame (see photo) where it is very quick to remove for various uses. Not as thick as a US Iso pad, it folds compactly and fits inside of various backpacks. Quality seems excellent and new. Excellent item albeit a bit expensive. Difficult to find in the US.

通常用途ではなく、パイロットバックの骨組みとして購入してみました。結果的に、こちらの商品だと185×28cmにしてバッグの中に入れると丁度よい骨組みになりました。マットとしては、もっといいものがあるかもしれませんけど、やっぱり携帯でるような大きさになるのは利点が大きいですね。一枚もっていても損はないと思います。私が購入したものは在庫切れになってしまったようですが、同じようなのもあるようです。ご参考までに。
