I have been using this antenna on my HT for at least five years now, so I feel I can give a valuable review. I would recommend this to anyone. The build quality is great - this is not flimsy junk. It greatly improves signal quality, especially outdoors. I highly recommend it.

The antenna came earlier than expected. I tested it on a NanoVNA and it has great SWR on the frequencies I use in the 2m, 70cm, and GRMS bands. Only downside is that the antenna has a little bit of wobble extended or not. Hoping it doesn’t get worse over time.

Measuring this fully extended from 144-148 i get a dip in the middle around 1.2 SWR with about 1.5 at either end. From 420-450 i get about 1.5 in the middle and about 1.75 at either end. The dip in the middle fluctuated a little based on how close i held the antenna to my head, but i remained very usuable across the whole bands. If i retract the lower half completely, and extend about 2.25 sections of the top half i can get the 420-450 down to 1.2 in the middle with about 1.5 at either end.Fully retraced, SWR is well over 3 until you get to about 650MHz, so this antenna isnt very useful unless you extend it. Take this into consideration as it's a trade off. It is significantly better than most normal handheld antennas, however at over 3 feet long it is probably not the most practical for everyday use.It seems well built enough to be worth the price. If you have ever had a telescoping antenna on anything, you know that any sort of bend, and it's over for this antenna, but i think i can be careful enough with it to get my moneys worth out of it, and at such a good price point, and good performance, if i ever break it, i will likely buy another one.

Great antenna! Made a big difference on receive and transmit for 2m. When extended its a long one.

I tested this antenna hoping to find a good retractable for hiking and SOTA activations to go on my Baofeng handhelds. It measured 1.05 SWR on an antenna analyzer, and 1.2 on my VNA around 146 MHz. However, despite over an hour of experiments with the VNA and analyzer at different lengths of this antenna I failed to find any place on 70 cm where the SWR was below 2.6.Since I have a similar antenna for my Yaesu FT-817, I hooked it up and while it wasn't as nice on 2 M (1.3) is was under 1.5 for 70 cm, so I elected to return the RH 770 and continue looking.

This thing is heavy! I knew it would be, just not how much. It puts considerable strain on the connector. I have decide to use this for very specific applications and not for everyday use. I used it for a couple of events and not sure I could tell a difference from my Nagoya 771.
