Sadly I have to give a 1 star review for this antenna... First, it took almost 2 weeks to get to me... Second, once it arrived it came damaged with the whip slightly bent at the bottom.! Also, damaged magnet mount with two dents on the base...! Nevertheless I still tried to install it without success of getting the SWR tuned down correctly... I couldn't get it down past 1.8 on channel 1 and 1.6 on 20 and 40... I have to say that I'm very disappointed after seeing and reading all the great reviews not only here but elsewhere on the net... And so, I started the return process... I should have went with the Wilson 1000 or the K40.! I've had them both and never an issue

I watched a few youtube reviews that showed the Tram 3500 getting 18 plus miles with 4 watts.... so I thought I would try it.... I have had a K-40 magnet mount in the 80's and bought a new one last year... but this Tram 3500 sounded so good I wanted to try it.... it WORKS! I have a 2011 regular cab F-150 so not a lot of metal on the roof for the signal to reflect off... I saw people with cars getting great range... but on a pick-up they are all awful... pick up beds have no metal to reflect.. signals won't reflect from the floor of the bed so all you have is the 3 inch bed rails on each side.... the cab is not connected to the bed... the hood ( the only other large reflective metal) on a pick up is not well connected to the cab. the cab and bed have big rubber body mounts they sit on and the bolts don't make a good RF ( Radio Frequency) bond.. so pick-ups don't work well unless you do RF bonding... meaning using 1 1/4" ground straps... I did the fenders to the cab and the hood to the cab... the bed to the cab... and everything to the frame... about 20 straps.... the antenna transmitted about three miles before I did the RF bonding.. after the RF bonding.. I can easily talk and hear 20 plus miles! I NEVER ask for a radio check and not get someone coming back and I live in the woods! using my CB's side band I talk skip all over the country!!!!! I honestly talk several towns away and people think I have a million dollar system.. I only have 12 watts on AM FM... 27 watts on SSB radio (34 years old President Grant Export CB). .... my K40 worked just as good... but it didn't bend very well and was going to break if I kept going in and out of the garage... but the Tram 3500 has a very whippy antenna and it bends a LOT and allows me to pull into and out of the garage... it's been 6 months now and it's still working fantastic!!!! so on a car that has a uni-body ( the car is part of the frame) this antenna will not need RF bonding and will work GREAT... pick-up trucks need RF bonding... people blame the Antenna for poor performance on a pick up truck but you have to at least bond the hood and bed to the cab.. I have a picture of the hood and fenders bonded to the Cab..... hope this info helps.... I LOVE THIS ANTENNA!!!!

So it's installed. Super easy. Tuned right up with minimal adjustments. Just haven't used it enough to give more stars. But it's way better than a little Wil.

I Purchased this antenna as a cheaper alternative to a Wilson 1000. The 3500 was half the price and works better than a lil wil which is at the same price point. It is a well built antenna just as good as a Wilson. So far I have not been able to get an SWR lower than 1.7 on my SWR meter but I have not had much time to really work on it due to the holidays. On the open road I receive signals from as far as 15 miles away and have received "skip" several times. ( the furthest were from Mew Mexico and Ohio) ( while driving in central Florida). During the day I am able transmit between 5 to 6 miles and be heard clearly. At night I am able to transmit up to 8 miles (Using a stock cobra 25 wx/st) . This Tram antenna also picks up NOAA stations with out a problem. I would definitely buy another one when the time comes.

This antenna was recommended for my by a friend who swears by Wilson antennas. I myself have a Wilson 5000 magnet mount and a K-40 mag mount. Both are over 20 years old and the Wilson 5000 had high SWR. ( I thing the coax was shot) So I tried the Tram 3500 magnet mount for my Subaru Forester. It came quickly, was really easy to install. The SWR was almost perfect at the get go. I run a President Bill USA and a small heater under the seat. I get out really well and hear stations far away. I have even talked 'Skip' with this antenna. The only thing I wish were different is that the antenna does not screw off for car washes and parking in undesirable places that might attract attention to my car.. Also when I had my car worked on in the shop, they had to put my antenna on its side when it was on the lift so it would not hit the ceiling. Besides that, It is a great antenna and a great value.

Antenna works ok , could not get a match better than 1.5 , for some reason no matter whether i raise it or lower it , the match will not go down any farther . Wish i would have just bought the wilson 5000 magnet mount antenna instead .
