I purchased two Tram antennas - one claiming it was pretuned for CB radio, and another that claimes it was pre-tuned to amateur radio bands. I received them both, one is labeled for CB use and the other for amateur radio. The problem is- they are the *exact* same antenna. Outside of the packaging I have no way to tell them apart. So now I feel like I have to break out the standing wave meter and VNA to see if these are actually any good.

I read of complaints about how this antenna didn't work for many people. I didn't have any issues. I got the swr down to around 1.5 for channels 1, 20, and 40. It hasn't fallen off my side window and it's holding up strong.

I got this antenna for my Midland CB radio because I did not want to drill holes in my truck for an external antenna install. It may not provide the range you could get from mounting "whip" style antennas since signal transmission is actually through the glass. This was an acceptable tradeoff for me. I pick up at least 1-2 miles away (as opposed to 4-5 miles for the non-glass mount antennas). As long as you understand that, it is a great product. It says it came pre-tuned. Since I don't have a signal-to-noise meter I can't attest to that one way or the other. If you want to tune it yourself, you can. There is a small screw on the inside mount for adjustment.

In getting back into CB radio for the first time in some years, I decided I didn't want to drill holes or have a clamped-on or magnetic mount antenna on my Dodge Journey. So, after much consideration, I chose this antenna, and I'm glad that I did.First off, you get excellent 3M adhesive, which so far has handled cold, rain and hot sun wonderfully. This is important. Also important is the removable mast, which you should always do before you go into any car wash - either with or without brushes.The cable, also detachable , is plenty long at 17 feet. Don't coil it, extend it around the car (or truck) under the seats as you can. This will help with your signal. I went around the rear driver's door, around the bases of the front seats, and back before pushing forward to the front of the console.After you've used an SWR meter and adjusted the antenna with the included tool, you're broadcasting! The antenna helps draw in near (and some far) transmissions and gets your voice out a fair (yet so far undetermined) distance.Materials of everything are of good quality. I can see this antenna lasting a number of years.

I've ran these on different trucks and it serves my purpose of a easy install and no drilling or bolting. Now please note these antennas are good for short range, such as group trail riding, industrial sites or listening to truckers. It's prime transmit range is probably around 1-2 miles. I don't think I would ever hook a CB with linear to it either. I've never had one to come loose if PROPERLY installed. Some people complain of "whistling" with these antennas. I've had wind noise on a Silverado (back glass mounted) but mounted in same place on my Tacoma it doesn't make any noise and I had one side back side glass on a hardtop Jeep with no issues. I believe it's related to position and how air flows on a particular vehicle. As with any 2-way antenna, be sure to tune with a SWR meter. I give 4 stars only because of short range, other than that a good basic antenna

This has a longer mast than most of the glass mounted antennas I have seen. Easy to adjust the SWR. If you are driving into a parking garage with low ceiling height you can un-screw the antenna; from it's mount. Go and park, then when you exit the parking garage, just screw it back unto it's mount.

For anyone who needs a simple, easy to install CB antenna in a hurry.

I avoid drilling into my car's body and therefore a glassantenna is preferred. Glue allways makes me a little anxious, so I did clean the window well but no alchol. Dropped to tiny drops of Loctite instant glue, glued and hoped for the best, all done inside in +20C. A tiny layer of silicon was applied around the edge of the outside base of the antenna to prevent water from leaking behind. It appears rock solid and have so far survived high speed and frost. Don't think it will come off. So far I haven't tested the range since there are no cb-users on air these days. Just heard some lorrydrivers the other day. Antenna must be calibrated before use, some people ignore this, but mine was way off before adjustment.

Alright, I usually never write reviews, but this antenna really surprised me.I drive an Evo, which is probably the last vehicle you would expect a CB to be installed in. But I got a good package deal on a Uniden Pro Series + this antenna, so I figured I'd jump on it.To start, I've always wanted CB capabilities for long road trips and, of course, wanted to use the PA system to mess with folks. My dad used to have a '93 GMC dually and hauled some heavy duty cargo/horse trailers, so I kind of fell in love with his CB. Now I wanted my own. The problem was, I was NOT willing to drill holes in my beautiful little car. But without drilling, I knew simple magnet mounts would not withstand my typical driving speeds and risked scratching the paint. Besides, I couldn't find one that didn't look completely obnoxious.That's when I came across this glass-mount antenna. Low-profile, matched the car, supposedly had all the capabilities I needed (which in my mind was to just chatter with vehicles around me or mayday in an emergency situation). To be honest, I was a little worried after reading some of the comments here and elsewhere - "this antenna is junk," "flies off when doing highway speeds," "has a 1/2 mile range at best," "poor reception," etc. But I wasn't going to be deterred, and I'm glad I wasn't.Setup is a breeze if you know what you're doing. I was able to run the various wires/cables under the interior moldings. After attaching the antenna to the rear glass, I gave it about 12 hours for the adhesives to cure properly before driving the car. After that, I had the Evo up to 85mph on a local highway and the antenna didn't even budge.After tuning the CB (which I feel some people don't do properly, if at all), I was scrolling through some channels just north of town a day later. When I hit about channel 33 or so, I was picking up on some transmissions. After adjusting the RF and Squelch a bit, I caught an entire - crystal clear - conversation between two truckers on the turnpike - 9.5 miles away! I know that might seem insane, but that's our closest interstate. That is well beyond what I thought possible. Atmospheric conditions may have been a factor, who knows, but I found it to be extremely impressive.A few other notes:- Not specifically here, but elsewhere, people were saying these type of antennas don't work through tint. That has been debunked, to the point percentage isn't even a factor (my rear windows are *very* dark, aftermarket). As long as you have decent quality tint that isn't "metallic" in composition, you'll be fine.- Also mentioned on some forums was the fact they could not be placed on windows with in-window copper defrost wiring. Turns out that's a myth as well. I'd say as long as you don't put the antenna directly on one of them, you'll be fine (mine is situated about an inch above the top-most wire). In fact, knowing how copper increases conductivity, it wouldn't surprise me if the extra wiring in the window is helping reception a bit. But like I said, it's probably not smart to put it directly on or around the wiring.At the end of the day, I would say get a decent+ CB to go with this glass-mount antenna and roll with it. You won't be disappointed if you set it up correctly. This is ideal for us sports car guys who don't want to drill into the body of our race machines.10/10 would buy again.
