These protector sleeves help protect the wood when you are installing wire railing. Over time as the wire moves in the weather outside it will rub on the wood and wear it down. These prevent that from happening. They also make the finish look really clean and high end. These aren't a requirement when installing a wire railing on a deck, but they do make them look nice and help the wood last longer.

Installed stainless cable on my deck in place of the wooden pickets.These worked well to protect the cable .If they rust, I'll be back to indicate such but don't expect them to.View is much better with cable.

Replaced a 4' garden fence that was topped with 2' of chicken wire and wooden frame (to prevent deer from accessing the garden) with cable railing. The cable runs through 10 4x4 support posts. Included with the sleeves is the drill bit for boring the holes in the 4x4. Sleeves match the hole size, wire goes through sleeve. Brings a complete finished look to the cabling. Garden fence is 100% better with cabling vs the chicken wire - not to mention a lot lighter / and without the extra stress on the posts brought on by wind on framed chicken wire.If you use cable railing, you are surely planning to have it look good, so use these sleeves and it will.

I got these for my deck project. I was piecing together a custom system and I knew I needed these. They were sturdy and a good value. I get a lot of wind in my area so I’ll update this is there are any performance issues but it is easy to install so far.

It's the little things that make the biggest impact. Rather than simply running steel cable through a bare drilled hole, dress up both sides of the hole with these sleeves. The included drill bit makes installation a breeze by drilling at the perfect diameter for the sleeve to have a snug fit. These stainless steel sleeves are strong enough to protect the wood post from damage caused by the cable rubbing against the sides of the holes. The sleek brushed stainless steel finish looks amazingly modern against a wooden post. The 30-pack will really only allow you to use them in 15 holes so plan accordingly.

I used this in the wooden posts for my grape vine trellis. This is a good way to thread the wire and to protect it from rubbing inside the post.

These protector sleeve, wire rope guides fit 1/8” cable perfectly. They are polished, machined solid stainless steel construction, and look and feel like they are very well made. A drill bit is included to assure the correct sized hole when installing. The drill bit is only 3 7/16” total length and will barely make it through a 4”x4” when installed in a chuck, but it will work. This is a good product and just what I needed for the pass through hole in my 4x4 posts for the cable railing on the deck I’m building.
