Too flimsy for main support. OK if post supported elsewhere. Low quality screws where Phillips head strip easily.

Post sleeve should work for what my needs are, a good product.

Worked great and looks good on the 4x6 posts we put them on.

Grrrr. My mailbox post is a 4x6. It’s almost impossible to find post weed-eater protectors for this size. Most everything comes in 4x4” or 6x6”. I did find a nice plastic one that you can order sets of two so I ordered two 4” and two 6”. Unfortunately their ordering information page was incorrect so every time I ordered 4x6 I received 6x4. THREE TIMES they sent me the wrong ones. Apparently they don’t read the notes you send when you return an item….Anyway I found these and since they are adjustable I thought I’d give them a try. My mailbox post was quite chewed up from the weed whacker. You can see the mangled wood (after I painted it) in the one photo. These were easy to put on and you can see the 4” side looks great! The 6” side doesn’t look as well for two reasons: 1. There was a yellow jacket nest in the ground next to it so I hurried and it’s a lil bit crooked. 2. You can see the light colored wood through the slots in the metal. I’m going to hit the slots with black paint in the morning. Overall these are nicely made and very adjustable. I’ll be thrilled if they protect my post and don’t rust.

The problem with most post sleeves is that you have to put them on when you install the post... what do you do about the post that's already there? The 2-pack adjustable post sleeve fits around your post AFTER it's been installed, which is great if you've bought a house with a handrail post that should have been protected but it wasn't done from the beginning. Easy to install - just fit one one either side of your post and use the screws that come with it to secure it in place. The black color blends in so it doesn't stand out as a "patch." These pieces could also be used separately to protect corners where only two sides of the post are exposed. Seems like quality construction.
