There isn't much tone difference between the different metal tubes and the plastic rod to play across them just makes a dull sound.

This windchime comes with a plastic mallet to play it. It's not something I would use, as I would rather play it with my hands for a better sound. I got it as an attention getter for the classroom, and it works great. I like that it has a handle. It has a clear sound that is bright and high-pitched.
