Not a threader but a rethreader or thread repair kit. To that limited extent it is a good kit. Strong steel. Wide selection of the most common sizes. Five stars.

As someone who's always tinkering with fasteners on various projects, I always find myself wanted to clean up treads before reassembling stuff. So far, this set has been very functional with all the standard fastens I've run across in a household environment. A solid set at a reasonable price.

This is a pretty solid kit all around. I don't do enough stuff that I could get any use out of this, but I do have a few old bolts that I figured I'd give it a shot. One of the first things that I really appreciated was the thread pitch gauges. Seriously, I've done it with calipers far too often, and it is a pain. Half the kit's useless to me... for now, but most every bolt I've dealt with, the SAE gauge was the correct one. Anyways, once I had the right nut for the thread pitch, it was just a matter of running it through, with a bit of help from the ol Dubya-D. It didn't take too much force to realign those threads with the double wrench trick, and it wasn't all that hard to remove. These tools are allegedly chromoly steel, so they should take some abuse. Should. Anyways, after some filing to remove a few burrs, the bolt was as good as it was ever gonna get. This kit ain't gonna save you for something like head gasket bolts or anything like that where they're engineered to stretch, but for when you've given something a bit of that Alabama Loctite, it might just save you. For my sporadic use case, it worked more than well enough though.

This seems like an extremely will put together kit for thread chasing. I'm a private mechanic so I'm always in need of a thread chasing kit. I previously had a cheap tap and die kit that I would use for things but I needed a thread chasing kit because a tap can ruin the threads. My cheap tap kit worked OK but it was a standard square end for everything. The fact this is a hex end will make it super easy to use in my impact and assimilate nicely into the workflow.Overall this kit looks great, it has all the sizes I would need (metric) and it came in a nice case. Nothing was loose in the case when I opened it, it all fits nicely and snuggly in their spots.I haven't had a need to use this yet but I have no concerns on whether this kit will work for me. It seems well put together with all the sizes I will need. I'll have to update this review once I take on a job that I need to use these on.

some folks are the run to the hardware store that's 5 mins away...others that's not so easy...and like to have solutions on hand...and this is one of them. I've not used it or not, but have imagined all the past problems I've had where I'm scraping with a utility knife, file, or other tool to hope to salvage...later got some of those 'thread files' (which this has, but I've never really gotten the trick down on how to use those).Chances are 90% of this kit will sit around never getting to be the hero of the day - but I'm okay with that; I'd prefer to never use them; but feel comforted knowing their there to be a HOPEFUL solution in the future.Something I didn't know is: Many bolts are intended to be replaced and not reused if torque specs are critical. For me though it's usually some light weight home problem.

I had an old trailer with rusted and banged up wheel studs. After using a dedicated "thread chaser" I realized how important it is to have the proper tool rather than a tap & die. A thread chaser will clean up the threads without cutting too much, or following a cross-thread and wiping out your stud.I got this set to have chasers ON HAND for when I discover the need. I like the variety of SAE + Metric, and the included thread files and pitch gauges to determine which chaser to use.DISLIKES- Some of the stamped size ID are very hard to read, others are well centered on the flat area. I could not make out any pitch ID, only the size (like 10mm but not clarify if the pitch is 1.25 or 1.0)Having an abundant array of items is great but the case doesn't match the items. There are about 4 "chasers" rolling around with nowhere to go. the pitch gauge does not fit in the recessed area for it in the case. Unlike the dedicated high qualtiy stud repair chaser I bought separately, none of these chasers have a side identified to "start here" and there are no printed instructions to say something like start with the side that has the side marked on it.
