The plastic tray is sturdy and holds the battery in place. Had to play around with the strap to keep it in place as I was bolting the pad down. It would be useful to add plastic guilds at the bottom of the tray to hold the strap in place.

I put this into the center console of a Boston Whaler bay boat. It does not come with mounting screws so determine what you need to facilitate installation. It has 8 mounting holes. Four per side. The hold down strap is easily adjustable and works well but it's dependent on the mounting of the tray for it's support.
