There's NOTHING to dislike about this beater...It can also be adjusted up or down for a better strike angle and the wood beater gives the bass drum more THUMP

Ive had these for 20 years so i can say they're durable, but most importantly, nothing sounds better than wood.Especially if you prefer plastic over felt, the same reasons you prefer plastic are the same reasons you will prefer wood over plastic. It's much more defined, loud, and clicky although in a really pleasing way. It's hard to explain but I don't even really think it's a matter of preference between wood and plastic. Wood does everything plastic does as a beater but betterNow wood vs felt, that is totally a preference thing so if you're playing certain types of music, and don't want a sharp punchy kick, then I could see preferring felt but I also wouldn't be surprised to see a jazz drummer using wood either.I don't know what to think about the little weights on these things. I'm not sure they actually change the feel THAT much though I think they can help you get a slightly different feel so that could be valuable to you. Your mileage may vary.Also the angle adjustment is solid. I've never had any issues with it slipping but it's a Tama product and they're usually the best with hardware (and drums imo but there are many great sounding drums)

The previous felt head I had had worn down. The wood beater head seems to hold up no problem. Packs a punch!

The heater doesn’t even stay in place! It just keeps twisting/swiveling no matter how hard you clamp it down! Don’t buy!

Light, but still hard hitting, these were the best upgrade after using the heavy Danmar wooden beaters for over ten years. Have them on my Powershifter Eliminators & my Axis A Longboards. Also, they make for a cool upgrade to Axis Sonic Hammer beaters if the plastic/felt/cork isn't your thing.

Ordered this Tama cobra beater which is suppose to be wooden on the front. When I opened it after I got home it was the wrong item and I'm now overseas.

I purchased two. One of the beater's mallets ends up horizontal by the end of a song with a great deal of double bass in it. I have it tightened down as much as possible. I think I will go with solid wooden beaters.
