I have an older one of these (approximately 8 - 10 years old) and needed a second one for my garage. I didn't realize that there are now two versions of this stand: one comes in multiple pieces and has to be screwed together, and this one, which is a welded version (like my old one).I was expecting the same stand as my current one but was disappointed that it is not. The paint (powder coat?) is now a two toned rippled effect vs. the older plain gray. This powder coat is very slippery and the four rubber feet just slide on and off freely. I guess I could glue them on?The other annoyance is the play in the upper loop portion of the stand after you click it into the two retaining tabs of the lower portion. The old stand was/is solid as a rock - no slack. This new stand has a lot of side to side/front to back play in the upper portion. It seems the tolerances of the inner diameter of the upper tube and the outer diameter of the lower tube is way too generous.Maybe I got a defective unit? I don't know, but I don't have a lot of confidence that I would have better luck with another one if I returned it.Overall, I'm fairly disappointed in the quality of this stand, especially compared to my older one.

This is the welded base version. Excellent packaging. Shipped right away from Amazon with standard shipping and arrived 2-3 days later at my front door! Assembly is simple with the top tire rack inserting into the welded base. I use this stand to store a 29er full suspension mountain bike with 2.3" width front tires and this stand handles it perfectly with about 0.3 total inches to spare. I did not need to purchase separately the 29 inch wheel adapter kit made by Willworx. Bike shops use this stand for displays and it really is a very good stand. Slightly expensive for what you get but compared to other stands available, it is a good value. Additionally, Willworx makes a repair bracket adapter available for purchase which will fit this stand. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this stand.

These are the same stands that we used in the bike shop I worked at. They are SOLID, sturdy, look great, and fit all my bikes. Hands down the best bike stand I've used or seen.I have a 26" fat tire dirt jumper with 26 x 2.5" knobbies (Specialized Eskars) and it fits snugly. I have a 26 x 2.35" (Kenda Nevegal) all-mountain full suspension, also fits nice and snug. My road bike has wood fenders, so the rear wheel won't fit, however it seems to hold it from the front wheel no problem. (You should always mount from rear wheel if possible).Something to note:Do NOT get the multi-piece version. They aren't nearly as stable as the welded version, the screws come loose and after years of use they fall apart. These welded ones last forever. We also noticed that the multi-piece would often ship with the wrong parts. These ones you can't go wrong. Pay the extra and get the welded version.

I needed a stand to better store my road bike in the basement of my condo; this does the job well. It's well made, and easy to assemble. My only critique is as my road bike has narrow tires, it requires the Willworx foam spacers to hold the bike snugly and upright, and you will have to buy the foam inserts separately.

This is a one-of-a-kind, top quality product. I could find nothing else like it. Everything else is insufficient or poorly designed. This holds my Diamondback Recoil (also purchased from Amazon) with knobby 26 x 2.1 tires perfectly. The fit is snug but that's also a good thing. This is really the only way to park a mountain bike without hanging it somewhere. It's not possible to put a kickstand on most mountain bikes (I researched).I recommend the following modification:The unit comes in two pieces. I glued them together with Liquid Nails from Wal-Mart. If you don't glue them together, and you try to lift the unit to move it someplace, the top will come off. Also, it has a much sturdier feel to it when it's glued.UPDATE 1 ... the Liquid Nails didn't hold up ... so I'm also going to review Liquid Nails and give it a score of ZERO. I'll have to do what I didn't want to do and drill holes through the bike rack bars :(UPDATE 2 ... I purchased two 7/64 x 2 1/4 hitch pins from Lowes and drilled two holes using 7/64 bit and that worked perfectly. I uploaded photos for you to see on the main product page.

The most frustrating thing I find with bikes is storing and transporting them without damage. Without a doubt this is the best design available for a floor parking rack. It clears derailleurs and disc brakes, doesn't touch the spokes and supports even skinny front wheels very well. The solid, no fuss welded construction is worth whatever little extra this costs over a bolt together rack. The hammered metal finish looks great and has held up so far.The manufacturer's web site suggests it can be used to help transporting bikes and it did work well for me. For a bike in my truck bed I put one wheel in the rack and lightly strap down the bike frame. it is quite stable. When transporting one bike I do the same but I use both of my racks (one on each wheel) and it is rock solid. Some else mentioned it being good for tandems - it also works for a road bike with kids trailer bike attached. For extra large mountain bikes there is a slightly wider version. Our mountain bikes with stock tires are a slightly snug, secure fit. This is great except sometimes you pull the bike back and the rack comes with it. I'll take the extra secure fit.On a smooth painted concrete floor it can slide a bit. Several good knocks of the bike will turn the front wheel enough for the bike to fall over. In practice I haven't had a bike fall over and it is a 100 times more stable than resting the bike against a wall. The accessory to join two racks together probably solves this issue completely.
