I put about 1/2 hour cut time on this end mill - hand fed around 5 inches per minute @ 800 to 900 rpm. I started side milling a 304 ss flavored boat prop shaft (approx. 30HRC) - dry cutting @ a depth of .050 & about 3/4" on the vertical. She complains, cries, sings a harmonic lullaby - whatever you want to call it. I kept backing off until I got to .019" depth of cut - still complaining with the dry cut. I used some oil - no complaints. In fact, with the oil she leaves a beautiful, near mirror, finish on the 304. At my speeds and feeds - she did not want to go much above .030" at 3/4" on the flutes. I like the finish – but it all seems a little odd to me. I haven't used end mills with this AlCrSiN Coating. Maybe it has something to do with that; I'm not a machinist though – just another nut job. I put a chunk of cast in the vice – about the same speeds and feeds. Face milling, slot cutting to depths of .070 not a problem (dry cut). Side milling 5/8” on the vertical cuts of .050” not a problem. Inspection under 10x clearly showed use where cutting edges met the south end of the flutes – It is not bad – but I can tell the tips have given up a little bit of their grind. I've put other end mills through a simlar regiment – it's been hard to tell I even used them. I kind of expected this end mill to do a little better than it did, but – she cuts well with cutting oil and leaves a beautiful finish. So – I'll call her 4 Stars~ Thanks for Reading – Have an Incredible Life! ~

Not too much to say. I don't know yet whether this would handle a production environment, but for hobby use I think it is great.

I was pleasantly surprised receiving this. First, it came with a SFM card that breaks out material and Vc which is amazing. No looking up part numbers to find the perfect Stainless SFM or just going with the general rule. Super impressive.Second, the flutes and coating are beautiful. I included some close ups so you can see. The grinds are perfect and it compares to some Oscar, Kyocera and other brand name mills I have. But honestly, that doesn't matter at all.looks are one thing but how does it cut - that's what actually matters.Well fear not, it cuts amazingly. It sliced through a puck of 304 at full DOC and 25% step over without a chirp and left a beautiful surface finish with no coolant.It's. PMK endmills so any Steel, Stainless and Cast Iron are fair game per design, but anything that cuts stainless well, will also cut titanium and some other super-alloys.Overall, this is INSANE value for money. I bought 3 more 1/4" endmills.

This is a nice, quality endmill for not a ton of money, considering that it's for precision machining. I ordered it to use with a dremel, and for that purpose it's a bit pricey but it works great and holds up well.

This Solid Carbide Square End Mill with 4 flutes has been a reliable workhorse for my machining projects. I used it on both stainless steel and cast iron, and the AlCrSiN coating provided excellent heat resistance, keeping the cuts smooth and precise even during long runs. The 3/8" size strikes a good balance between strength and versatility, making it suitable for a variety of tasks. It holds its edge well, reducing the need for frequent sharpening, which saves time and effort. For anyone working with common steels or tougher materials, this end mill is an efficient and durable choice.

This endmill is working well for me. It handles heavy cuts and leaves a nice surface finish. The flutes aren't quite smooth enough for softer metals; they tend to stick.A good, durable endmill for a fair price.

I had intended to use this for general purpose work on both aluminum and steel, but it is so finely ground and sharp that I think I will keep it away from the harder stuff and use it for aluminum only. Under the microscope the flutes and the end-cutting edges appear precisely and perfectly ground, and I'm going to try to keep it that way. I have a mid-sized hobby CNC and I tend to use (and abuse) cheaper cutters. Some inexpensive carbide bits just don't seem to come sharpened as well as HSS bits, but this one gives a very smooth cut on aluminum. You can never tell how these are going to last, but this looks good and works very well while new. There are less-expensive bits in this size out there but you can also pay a lot more, and this looks to be of very high quality for a mid-priced solid carbide bit.

thus far I've run this end mill extensively in 6061 aluminum (even though it's not a 2 or 3 flute end mill) and just a few jobs in both 304 and 316 stainless steel. i must say I'm impressed. i can push this end mill in aluminum with deep cuts at high feed rates and it seems to clear chips well. if all i was running was aluminum i would use a 2 or 3 flute variant of this end mill and i would expect excellent tool life, just as good as the name brands I've been using. the 316sst has dulled this end mill to the point of replacement, but the end mill has not yet busted and continues to cut on size. overall, I'm impressed and will use this brand as needs arise.
