The case is extremely well built and sturdy. Even with it getting loaded to 80 pounds and tossed around by the airline it came out with only minor dings and scratches that don't affect functionality at all. It's a TSA approved case so you won't have any issues there. It's the best bang for your buck on the market for traveling with long guns and keeping baggage fees down. The internal length of 50 inches is more than enough to transport any rifle or shotgun commonly owned. It also comes with 2 foam dividers and and a plastic sheet reinforced foam pad to seperate the bunk bed system it has. There is a spring loaded drag handle on the opposite end of the wheels to drag the case around with ease. The main carry handle is extremely well built and comfortable to carry. There are 2 TSA locking latches as well as 2 padlock holes to properly secure your belongings inside the case as well. My only complaint is the silver metal in the center of the case looks off and would have been better painted black. Over all I am very pleased and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to family and friends over a pelican case.

The case is big enough for four rifles and about to survive anything. It is worth every dollar.

So far it seems sturdy and it’s plenty long and wide enough. I could even get three long guns on the bottom level with some careful Tetrising. But good luck using both levels. Haven’t yet been able to close the case with the 2x2 setup. Granted a couple are a bit on the chunky side (Garand, 1903) but I wanted to give it the worst case scenario, and I feel like having to sit on the case to close and latch it isn’t the best scenario for what’s inside, and it bows the heck out of the case. More fiddling is required. Would another inch or two of depth have been too much, or to shave down the removable divider? Or both? If I can’t fit four in here I will be returning it, as it’s wasted money to leave all that unused space.

Great for protection and security in transport. Only two negative comments - very heavy even when empty, this case would benefit from a carrying handle at one end as well as the existing handle which is at the midway point (to help carry up stairs). And the keys need a lot of tweaking to get them into the key slots! A good investment.

UPDATE: After 8 years of ownership I wanted to provide an update. I’ve have used this case on flights from Illinois to Hawaii and Hawaii to Virginia. I’ve also used it on several other moves in trailers from VA to TX, TX back to VA and am now moving from VA to AZ. I currently have 4 weapons with optics and zero issues. It is a tight fit, but I love that the foam is substantial enough to protect the weapons and optics from bouncing around in the case but enough room to easily fit 4 full sized weapons with optics. Absolutely awesome case and still going strong 8 years in.This case is awesome. Ample padding and the middle divider has an aluminum plate in the middle to prevent deformation regardless of what weapon loadout you have. The hinges are robust and has 4 locking points (two in clasps, two with regular locks). The case was used to transport a shotgun, bolt action rifle and AR-10 through the airport. Had no problems and the case had virtually no signs of damage from the baggage handlers. The wheels are inset quite a bit to prevent any damage due to mis-use or abuse.Highly recommend this product to others who will transport weapons, especially through air.

I never thought i would spend this much for a simple case when you can get the ones at wally-world for so much less. I had to fly my guns from PA to NV and this case fit them and met all the requirements. I did have to pull the barrel off of my 870 in order for it to fit. It was about an inch too long when assembled. it also fit my r-15 and savage model 11 (both with scopes) on one of the compartments. Meets the TSA requirements to fly with. and i noticed one other person said that theirs did not come with foam, (Mine did). When i got to NV after the flight the case held up well. The guns hadn't shifted, or they didnt shift enough for me to notice. Very happy with case. I would buy another SKB case but i dont think i will ever need to.Negatives:It is HUGE. I had a hard time fitting it into my friends car that picked me up from the airport. the wheels on the case really help but its lenght made it hard to get around the security lines at the airport. This is not a friend of sharp turns and tight corners.It is heavy. I guess this is to be expected for how much protection it appears to offer.

I was pleasantly surprised by this case. It's not built quite as tough as the Pelican cases, but it's close. This is a very rigid case with a thick shell. The foam inside is very supportive and firm. It's quite roomy, locks solidly and I don't worry about anyone being able to get into it if I don't want them to. It's got wheels on one end and a spring loaded handle on the other which makes moving it quite convenient. I plan to buy a few more. I think the only drawback is that it's not air tight (though very close to it), and I would prefer slightly thicker metal around the edges where it seals up. It is built to prevent it, but if something were to bump the aluminum strips on the edges while the case was open, that might interfere with it closing up like it should. The latches are solid and well built, and you can still throw two padlocks on there to keep your gear secure. This thing can take a lot of abuse and has moved with me twice so far, and survived the airlines multiple times with no dents or damage. I can unreservedly recommend these things to anyone that needs a tough, lockable case with a ton of room inside.
