Bought this to transport my Ruger American rifle (just under 42") and it more than does the job. I specifically appreciate the sturdy buckles, lock points, and interior padding. This the kind of case I can ask my son to carry and not worry if it bumps/bangs into something. Plus I like the extra room to carry accessories if needed. This will be the first stop if I need to get additional long gun carry cases.

Is it a hard durable plastic case, yeah kind of. It's not the thickest. Will it protect a rifle and scope... yes. I wouldn't toss it around in the bed of my truck or toss it on a hard surface. It does the job. It could be worse.

I needed something to use to carry my AR to the range. They frown upon people walking around with AR's here in CT unless they are covered up, lol. This does the job. Its plastic, flimsy and cheesy as you would expect. But perfect for just carrying a rifle to/from the range. It does have a place to put a padlock, but you could snip those tabs off with a side cutters. This is not a safe, or safe place, to store a weapon. Great for what it is. Has nice padding inside.

I like this case because it is inexpensive, light weight, and will protect a rifle better than a bag for storage. Its being used to protect a .22 rifle with scope. At this price point do not expect a case that will rival a $60 case. The foam is very soft so a rifle will fall to bottom. The latches work, but they are all plastic and will probably wear with use. The hinges are pretty good. The case is rigid when latched closed, but very flexible/floppy when open. I bought this to install new foam and crushed green velvet with recess for the rifle so its held snug and won't move even when dropped. So its perfect for my custom case project. In fact I could not make my own plywood case for less.If the case is to be used as is, I suggest another layer if foam should be added to make the case grip the rifle tight. A 1” layer added to one side should do it. Also, the foam is not glued in so its easy to lift out and use it as a template. I give this 5 stars because it is better than expected for a case at this price, and it fits my needs perfectly.

Both halves of interior foam aren't cut to fit properly and are missing an inch or so from one side. 2 of 3 locks had flash from the moulding process in the holes that had to be cut out before use. There was no quality control on this product and if its not a factory second then the manufacturer and seller should both be ashamed of the product they are selling. It will work but there are better options that are equal or lower prices than this. Also there isn't a dimension on this case that is 50", the actual length is 48.5"
