My 7 yrs old daughter had a hard to changing gears with the twist shifter also Shimano. After I replace it with trigger shifter Shimano. She has no issue anymore and she enjoys shifting gears based on different terrains.

Very happy with this shifter. Solidly built, feels good to use, and the shifting is super smooth. The indexing was almost perfect right out of the box. I hardly had to do any adjustment. The week earlier I bought a knock off brand in a moment of weakness. The front shifter broke before I even finished installing it and it took an hour of fiddling to get the indexing correct in the back. Even then the shifting was laggy and clunky. Totally worth the extra money to go with Shimano.

My old shifter was getting a bit sticky (not wanting to click back into the ready position so that I could shift again) and the dial that indicated what gear I am in completely stopped working. I decided to pick this up for $18. It took less than 10 minutes to install and the bike required no gear adjustment afterwards... here's what I did:1. Before doing anything, shift the bike into the HIGHEST gear on the the rear cassette that is attached to the rear wheel. NOTE: The "highest" gear is the smallest gear that is farthest away from the wheel/tire.2. Remove the right grip from the handlebars3. Loosen the large allen (hex) screw on the old shifter4. Using decent side cutters, cut the old cable where it attaches to the rear derailleur5. Remove the old shifter and pull the old cable completely out. NOTE: pull only the metallic inner cable out, do not pull the black plastic cable cover/sleeve out.6. Slide the new cable in most of the way and position the shifter on the handlebars where you want it.7. Slide the cable in the rest of the way and pull it tight from below near the derailleur.8. Loosen the cable attachment nut, discard the bit of old cable, and place the new cable under the nut.9. Verify that the shifter dial is in "8" and the chain is on the highest (aka smallest) gear.10. Pull the cable tightly (make sure ALL of your cable ends are seated), and tighten the cable attachment nut.11. Put the right grip back on, and test drive the bike making sure to shift through the gears. If the chain falls off when shifting back into 8th, you did not pull the cable tight enough in step 10.12. If your bike was well adjusted and shifted fine before replacing the shifter, it should shift well after. Any shifting issue is likely due to how well you followed directions in steps 9 and 10. If you simply cant get it to shift perfectly, you may choose to fine tune the derailleur to get it shifting perfectly.13. After you have it adjusted and working, cut off the excess cable about 2" past where it attaches to the rear derailleur. There is a small aluminum ferrule taped to the inside of the box that you received the shifter in. Slide it over the end of the now cut cable and crimp it in place with pliers. That is a quick overview which should be enough for someone who is handy. Hope this helps someone. Happy riding!

I got this to replace my current shifter when I upgraded my Trek mountain bike to a BAFANG mid drive. Works smooth and matched the Trek components on my brothers new Trek E-bike.Good value, easy to install.

I bought this for my daughters 24” bike build. She had a twist shifter for her 8 speed and I want her to start by using this style shifter. It’ll help later on when she rides bigger bikes that already come with this same style. I tried it earlier today and I can down shift 3 gears at once! That was cool. Definitely a good buy and easy to install.
