Roto-hammering a hole for 3/4” pvc conduit through a slab. My roto-hammer drilled mostly under its own weight with just a tiny bit of downward force from me, and I just watched it drop down like 1/8” a second. I stopped to clear the dust every couple inches, but this thing cut concrete like it was butter. It’s in the short side, but it’s a good cutter for the price.

This drill bit worked, for about 20 holes, then it bound up inside the concrete I was drilling despite the fact I was water cooling it while drilling. When I finally managed to free it the carbide was gone and the head was completely rounded over.Yes its a discount brand bit, but it still should have been more durable than this. I will be buying Bosch or another reputable brand bit the next go round. Dissapointed to say the least.

I actually had to buy the right drill to operate this bit, but now I have a drill that not only makes large holes but also does demolition. This bit is massive and very well built. I need to mount some outlet boxes outside my house on my concrete block foundation. This bit blazed through the block and is the right diameter for the conduit I used to run from the outside where the outlet is, to the inside where I could finish my electrical run. I think I'll move on to drill holes in granite and making some rock fountains now that I have this monster bit!

I used this to drill about 40 holes in the base of my retaining wall for drainage. Each hole was 8" deep and took about 2 minutes. This bit made a clean hole each time and seems to have held up well.

Needing to drill some holes in concrete block to insert anchors I thought I would give these a try. The drills are well made and a perfect fit for my sds-max drill. The problem with these drills is that the tips are oversize by a substantial amount. I drilled one hole, and it was a good thing that I checked before drilling the rest. The problem was easy to correct by grinding the tips down to the correct width. Once I did that, they mad excellent holes. 3 stars because of size problems.

First, this is not your household drill bit, it requires a SDS Hammer drill and with the 1 inch bit size, it needs to be something made for handling larger jobs. I used a Bosch SDS drill, but the minimum is .7 inch bit capability. It will NOT fit in a standard ⅜ or even ½ inch hammer drill.I was rather surprised that after going through brick and concrete, the bit still looks like new after the dust is cleared. It does a great job and for the price is much cheaper than the big name brands.

This is a big bit and has a fluted (spline) shank that will not fit into most household drills. I have a ½” B&D Hammer Drill that is too small to accommodate the splines. That said, I borrowed a larger SDS drill for the holes I needed to drill through the side of a brick house to be able to run shielded CAT6 cable. I have a smaller 12” bit but was too short. To get the extra length I ordered the 14.5” to penetrate the brick and wall structure which required a bigger shank size. This type of bit is designed for an SDS drill that locks the splines on the bit into the chuck, so the hammer motion doesn’t dislodge the bit when penetrating concrete, mortar, and brick. Note that most Hammer Drills have a switch that allows them to run as a smooth drill or a hammer drill and this bit doesn’t work that well in a smooth drill. (I won’t tell you how I know this ;-))With the right drill, I made four holes through a brick house and then I drilled through a cinder block and the bit stayed sharp. Note that the sizes I use are not the actual hole depth as some of the shank is required to be in the drill chuck. This is a serious bit at a very good price but not something that I would use very often but it solved my problem.

I used it to drill more than 50 holes in "hard granite." The last hole drilled was as fast as the first hole...about 2 minutes for a 13" hole. This is a solid drill bit for the price.
