The Red Lion SCV114 ABS vertical inline check valve is designed for use with sump pumps. This check valve includes two reversible adapters and can fit both 1-1/4-inch or 1-1/2-inch PVC or ABS pipe. This unit comes preassembled for use with 1-1/4-inch pipe. To use the check valve for 1-1/2-inch pipe, loosen the stainless steel fasteners and pull off both adapters and reinstall so widest opening of each adapter points outward. The flapper opens 100% and the flapper seat design reduces water hammer and debris build-up. The flow direction is etched into the product so it will not fall during use. This check valve must be installed vertically.

This Little Giant check valve is made of PVC plastic. It is 11/4 inch ID in and out with stainless steel clamps.

Before installing, I tested the valve by pouring water into it. No amount of water prevented a leak, and pushing the flap down didn't maintain the seal. I tried both ends, just in case. It leaked both ways, so I returned this part. Can't recommend.

Haven't used this item yet as it took weeks past promised date to arrive so had to go a different route to fix pump problems but it looks solid and is made in Canada so that's a bonus.. too bad they needed to ship through numerous places in the US to get here

This wonderful ck valve enables my swimming pool pump to start pumping immediately upon being turned on (pump is 5 ft above water level). Before it would take up to 15 minutes or more. It should be part of every installation.

I gave up on check valves several years ago because they jammed up but decided to try this one. Flawless operation. One tip that took me a while to figure out: the flexible connectors on the two ends can be removed and reversed, giving you a choice of connecting to either 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" PVC or ABS.

WITHOUT THIS CHECK VALVE I COULD NOT LEAVE THE SUMP PUMP UNATTENDED. I HAD TO GO OUT IN THE RAIN AN UNPLUG THE ELECTRIC CORD OR THE PUMP WOULD CONTINUE TO PUMP THE BACK FLOW OUT AND IN ALL DAY.

My previous pump went out. So I bought a new one, and this check valve, as I believed that the pump was working too hard because it kept turning on, trying to pump out every inch of water. But some of the water was flowing back into the sump box due to gravity. Since I got this check valve, the pump turns off, and stays off until absolutely needed. I couldn't be happier with it.

I used this check valve to prevent the water being pumped out by the pump in the septic tank from returning so the water level needed for the pump to eject the water is reached sooner
