I haven't had a small portable transistor radio in years so I thought it would be fun to check out this unit. The AM/FM reception is pretty good, and the speaker is pretty clear. It has station storage functions, seek and scan, and it's a clock/alarm as well. I've never really tried listening to shortwave and don't know what types of broadcasts I'd expect to hear on it. I literally scanned through the entire range of SW and it didn't stop for a single broadcast, so I'm still curious about that, but it seems like it might be more talk/news oriented than music, I don't know. I kind of wish it had the emergency weather broadcasts. I used to check the weather on occasion when I had an emergency radio in my kitchen but it got really old and non-functional. This is a bluetooth receiver, but I was hoping it would be a transmitter as well, since it can play music from a TF card. It would be nice to transmit to a larger louder bluetooth speaker, but it can only receive. I like the idea of playing from a memory card, but I really don't use it very often on non-smart devices because it's not very versatile in my opinion, as far as queueing songs and creating playlists. I wonder what kind of rechargeable battery is in here. It's cool not having to replace batteries often, but I find that devices with MiMH or LiPo batteries usually reach end-of-life in a few years, so I'm hoping this contains a lithium battery. The instructions say that you have to manually monitor the charging time to avoid damage to the battery so I'm guessing it's not a lithium, but we'll see how long it lasts. The screen is bright and readable, but the segments do have inconsistent brightness, and it's not very readable from certain viewing angles. For the price I might have expected a better pixelated type screen, but it's not too necessary. Overall it's a nice little fun radio, and better than the old analog dial type with a lot more features, so I'm pretty happy with it and glad I could check it out. Thank you very much.

I really didn't expect much from this radio. I wanted something to toss in the backpack I keep in the car for emergencies. I figured at minimum it would recieve local FM and maybe some nearby AM. I was wrong. Despite its appearance and light weight this is a solid radio.AM, FM and Shortwave sensitivity are all top notch. After sundown the AM dial literally comes alive with stations from all over the US. Shortwave sensitivity is as good as some of the high dollar radios in my collection and frankly better than some. The audio quality is quite good for a larger pocket radio. I could actually enjoy listening to my favorite classical station on it in a pinch. It took me a while to figure out the radio's operating system but it works well enough. It's not overly complicated like some. The instruction sheet is clearly written in good English.Like most modern lower end digitial radios you can't directly input a frequency and manually tuning through the bands is a pain. But, it does have a quick scan and lots of programming comes up quickly. The size is a little odd for a handheld/pocket radio but the larger speaker and good audio certainly compensate for that. Another advantage of the size is the large and very easy to read display. We older folks who are becoming more visually challenged sometimes have a hard time with small digital displays. That will not be a problem with this radio. How that will affect battery life is yet to be seen but as a travel companion this radio could definitely replace your travel clock and you could probably read it with your glasses off.Bottom line, I was pleasantly surprised by this little radio and will get good use from it.

Battery drains to 0 when turned off.Otherwise fine.I expect a fully charged radio to fire up after I pick it up. I thought I was nuts, charged it back up, left it with full bars, and waited 12 hours, and down to one bar. I don't have a single rechargeable radio that discharges this quickly. I would expect weeks or even months if I'm not using it.
