I’ve had this CW trainer for a few months and so far I’m very happy with it. I’ve found it to be a better tool than any of the iOS apps that I was trying to use and I love the internal battery so that I can stuff it in my pocket and practice anywhere.

Works well if you use it regularly and not just every now and then.

This is a simple device for practicing Morse code. Comes with no instructions as it’s easy to figure out. Works well. Does have a limited range of practice options — these would be useful for someone looking to learn Morse code for the first time or a rusty oldster needing a code refresher.(If you’re interested in live classes held on Zoom, consider joining the LICW — the Long Island CW Club. Friendly group of hams who offer a wide range of classes, for the rank beginner or the seasoned pro who is wanting to get a performance past 25 wpm. Members are from all fifty states and 15 countries.)

Got this to help learn morse code. It worked well for about 3 weeks and I was getting a lot of value out of it. However, after about three the led screen stopped working. I returned it.

PROS- Very inexpensive for the features it has. I haven't found anything like it anywhere near this price point.- Easy to connect and set up. The settings and modes are limited, but this makes it is simple and intuitive.- Works with a variety of keys, and can even by keyed by its own enter button in a pinch!CONS- The power button is easy to press accidentally, and the carrying pouch does nothing to prevent this.- The decoding software has a tendency to miss "dits" with a paddle keyer, which makes for numerous busted characters.SUMMARYI don't think this is a bad product, but it needs a revision. I would purchase an updated model with two specific changes:1. Updated decoding software that registers "dits" properly.2. A power switch instead of a power button. The power button might be repurposed as an onboard key?

Ok, this little device is actually pretty cool.Pros:The main reason I purchased it was to practice sending CW with my iambic paddle, without having to disturb my radio setup. I plugged the paddle in, and it works without any issues.Built in speaker and headphone outputBuilt in battery, I didn’t want to have to plug an external power supply in, the built in battery keeps the extra cables to a minimumInstant on - I noticed that once I set things up, the settings are saved, I can turn the device on by tapping the power button, and instantly start sending CW. You don’t have to re input settings each time, which was very convenient.I will primarily use the “Free Input” screen, it does exactly what I needed. The “CW Practice” screen is nicely done.Small sizeComes with a nice carrying case.Price, can’t go wrong for $60.Cons:In the “free input” mode for sending CW, it occasionally a misses a dit if in the middle of a longer sequence like a “Q” (- - . -). I don’t think it is my paddle, as it doesn’t happen with my radio, something with the precision needed in the timing perhaps? It might be that my radio is more forgiving of me being a little sloppy, and this might help me have better timing? Either way it is only every once in a while. The “Listen Test” screen was a little confusing to me at first because the sound happens for one letter, while the display is showing the next letter. It is probably done that way so you have a moment to guess the letter before it shows it, but I still found it a little confusing.

The closest competitor to this unit is twice the price. The last 24 hours, we've used the trainer for several hours, and though yes there are complaints (the menu is confusing and takes time to get used to it for example), but there are so many qualities than shortcomings. Visual text reads out all the letters you type, there are multiple tests, identification by sound only training, wpm can be sped all.the way up to 50 wpm, or as slow as 5 wpm. I think the best part about this unit, is its a full training.unit, but it has a 3.5mm audio out Jack, so you can.either plug in headphones, or you can even connect it to a baofeng, tidradio, etc HT, and transmit Morse code without having a cw unit. So I can train, and I can transmit with the unit. If anything changes, I will update the review. But as of now, I'm incredibly impressed for the price. I don't know what the $140 unit is like in comparison, but if I can have all these features with minor complaints about construction or slightly confusing menu, I'll take it! What I can say, is this unit is much easier to figure out how to use, then it is parsing through all the information online to set up your own CW key station... oh, it also has a battery inside. So it doesn't always have to be plugged into the wall. I ran it for over an hour last night, no perceivable drop in battery percentage. Also, the screen is insanely bright. The picture was taken on the absolute LOWEST brightness, so.that gives you an idea of how insanely bright it gets. Could be good, could be bad, I suppose it depends on your purposes.

Lots of features for learning Morse Code. I'm using an iambic paddle with this and it's the best way to practice moves and timing. The iambic shortcuts work, too! I'm thinking of getting a spare second one in case I break this but the case that comes with it is excellent protection. I recommend this awesome product for beginners for both straight and iambic keys.

The white screen of death is because you have to charge the unit for 2 hours prior to first use. The internal battery does not have enough juice unless you charge it for at least 2 hours prior to first use. If you do not charge it you will turn it on and they will only be a white screen of death. Now after charging it it seems to work fairly well. There are no instructions on which type of paddle in the first set of choices is a straight paddle, Iambic paddle,etc.. again directions SUCK.
