This does not come as a class pack. First I got 5 50 packs, and called to complain and got a replacement... That one was 4 72 packs. I tried to explain that 50 or 72 different colors is different than a class set of 12.

I’m not sure if I’ll return them but as a librarian in a school, a parent bought these for me at my request and instead of the class set pictures (which I have bought before…), I got the multiple packs. More colors could be an issue since I have only had 12 colors per table with extra pencils ready but I also know I need pencils…

I ordered this product because it had a great organizational box for my classroom colored pencils. When they came, it did not come in the box as shown in the picture. I got 5 packs of pencils with 50 pencils in each pack. I was not very happy.

Great for coloring. You can shade, blend, and layer pretty well. The colors are rich and lovely, the laydown is smooth, and the white can even create special effects, tho not as well as an art pencil. The black is deep and lovely. Red is okay. The cores are very thick. They are softer than Crayola, but hard enough for details, although I use Crayola for the very small details. I go thru a lot of pencils, esp. the basic 12. Bulk is definitely the way to go. I had been buying the 12 packs in quantity during the back-to-school sales, but even then they cost nearly 20 cents per pencil. Even if I could afford to use art pencils for coloring or casual sketching, the "artist" in me screams bloody murder at the very thought. I got "Used-Like-New," at less than 10 cents each. I was pleasantly surprised to receive 300 pencils instead of 288. I read in reviews of people having had a set of 50 for decades. I can't even imagine that. I think in pictures and I go through a couple hundred colored and graphite pencils in a year! Those who point out that these are not artist quality are correct. They aren't, and they don't perform like artist's pencils. But they aren't priced like artist's pencils, either. I love 'em and am very happy with my purchase. I'll definitely be back next year, lol.

Multiple tips broken due to poor packing, a ripped Prang box, and pencils moving all around the box.The pencils themselves look different than the ones I ordered last year. Lighter weight.

Be very aware of packaging. Opened mine up to find at least 20% of the tips already broken, and I'm hoping down the road I won't have broken leads inside coloured pencils rending them somewhat useless or wasting a bunch of the pencil. Amazon was a pain to solve this issue.

These pencils more than met my expectations. As a homeschooling mother of 6, we go through colored pencils at a very fast rate as we use them to illustrate our learning, color in our workbooks, and draw pictures of the things we learn about. I like to work with the basic colors and encourage blending and shading when my children are coloring and drawing. These colored pencils have beautiful basic hues, and lay down a nice, rich color. They also blend beautifully. At the beginning of our school year this year, I bought about 12 packs of colored pencils, half Crayola, and half Rose Art. I was not very pleased with either. The Crayola tended to be waxy, and the hues on the RoseArt were not quite right, and both seemed to break often. Neither blended as well as I liked. I wanted a better quality pencil, but at the rate we go through them, I could not afford the more expensive art pencils. This pack of Prang colored pencils perform nearly as well as the nicest art colored pencils.I love having this "classroom pack." It keeps us organized, and we have plenty of each color, right in its place. My children no longer have to dig through their pencil caddies to find their basic colors. We feel much more organized and able to illustrate and draw much more easily. My older children (13 and 7) who have had extensive art classes in the use of colored pencils--they were ecstatic over these. They draw, color, shade, and blend so much better than the Crayola and RoseArt we had been using. My younger children are finding it much easier to learn how to shade and blend, because these pencils are of a much better quality. It is very hard to create shading or a nice blend with waxy pencils that don't leave a rich color, or with brittle pencils, or with pencils that don't quite get it right on the basic hues.My only disappointment is how these pencils were packed for shipping. We were quite dismayed when we opened the shipping box and saw it full of little colored pencil tips that had broken off. During shipping, the pencils had jumped out of their compartments and as a result, many of them had broken tips. This could be resolved if Prang could seal or shrink-wrap the pencils into their compartments in order to prevent movement during shipping. However, we sharpened them up and got busy using them right away.
