Decided to do a quick trip to Thailand and heard the roaming fees for our carrier would be insane. I got this as an emergency backup SIM, in case we weren't able to get to a cell carrier right away.First of all, AIS is a large carrier in Thailand, and the kiosks in the airport offer short options for tourists. You can purchase this card in advance, so you do not need to wait in line at the airport kiosks (which by the way are 'cash only'). This card is good for 7 days from the day of first use, the ones in the airport are good for 8 days, but we weren't staying that long, so it didn't matter. You get 5G speeds up to 15GB and then it drops down, but you can still use your phone. It comes with your temporary number printed on the packaging, if you need it.This one was plug-and-play, you just put the SIM card in an unlocked phone with no active cell signal/SIM, and it just started working; no activation required. When we purchased the ones at the airport, they needed to set it up and handle our phones. Our phones were constantly within view and I didn't see any suspicious activity, but if someone else handling your device is a concern for you, going with the pre-purchase option, the no activation is a nice feature. In terms of cost, both options were about the same price.Definitely if you want to save time, by not waiting in line at an airport counter, and you want a quick, easy SIM for cell service in Thailand, this is a good option.
