Very simple gadget makes watering your garden plants easy. This is somewhat based off the very old idea the old timers had back in the 40's. This upgrade allows the water drip to be adjusted. It works well, you can easily move them around to other areas of your yard, and very convenient to work with.

I had my 11 year-old put these together to trial before we went on vacation. There are parts that were missing and certain parts did not go together. Parts would fall off when trying to use it. It was not easy to adjust the water flow, even the lowest flow let out too much water. I really wanted to like these, but did not prove useful for using during vacation.

I ordered this because the concept sounded really good. However, the instructions, and where all the parts and pieces go in the mathematics to control the drip are apparently over my head and it also had this very sharp spike tool mixed in with part that punctured my hand. They need a cover on that point so I attempted to set one up to feed my tomato plant for five days while I was gone. It looks like the trip was adjusted correctly. We flew out on Wednesday. Something happened with our trip and we had to return back Thursday evening. The bottle in the tomato plant was completely empty although the drip rate looked at correct when I placed it. Another thing is this lever arm looking piece. I still haven’t figured out how it’s supposed to fit or where it’s supposed to fit it doesn’t click in or hold. It just barely sides under that lip there in the picture shows you push it down and it goes in the soil, I have absolutely no idea what the function of this is or how to really install it correctly. In the image it shows there is a hole in the spike. Well I adjustable little faucet piece is inserted into the side, but there is only one hole in the spike and that faucet piece seems to fit in there. It is a good concept and I guess if you’re an expert with plants and drip ratios and ambiguous instructions, this is for you. I am a newbie to plants and never have given drip ratios much thought. So I think next time I’m just gonna get the glass bulbs that you filled with water and turn upside down and sticking to your soil and be done with it.I still gave the product 4 stars, because overall it looks like it is solid, and in good shape, and in theory should work correctly. They attempt to send some sort of instructions and I really like the repurposing of the water bottles. So I really don’t feel good giving it less than four stars because I can’t figure it out.Just make sure you fully read the description, understand the mechanics of it, and be very care when handling the contents of the package not to stab yourself through your hand with that spiky tool

I really like the design of these plant watering spikes! I tried some watering globes but they were pretty much worthless as I could only get a day or two of drippage out of them. These are so much better because the water speed can be adjusted and so can the overall amount of available water. They are working great for dispensing a constant supply of water to a small Dogwood tree that I recently transplanted. They've also been great for my houseplants, as I'm often gone from home for a couple weeks at a time. They may not work for every situation, but so far I am very pleased with them and would recommend.Note: There are multiple variables that will determine how many days these will drip water. The size of bottle used, the speed that you set the dial, and the saturation of the soil will all factor in. It took me several days of fine tuning to achieve the results I wanted.

In this kit you will receive all the parts shown above. There are enough components to make 15 watering spikes. One is missing from my first pic because I put one together to try out (last photo). They are easy to assemble. The "kick stand" component is just a stabilizer to help prevent the device from leaning or falling over. The spike needs to stand as straight as possible to keep the water dripping out at the rate you want. If it's tipped, the water will drip out faster. After you have a spike assembled, run water into it or attach the bottle and fill it so you can adjust the drip rate. You can turn the valve all the way off to prevent watering but I found that the valve did still leak where it attaches to the spike. If you don't want that, you'd have to find a way to seal it. I just ignored it for review purposes. I set the drip rate to be about one drip every 10 seconds. I used a 20 ml soda bottle and I marked the water level on the bottle with a marker. After 90 minutes, the water level was down 1". I feel that this is not a reliable system for outdoor container plants if you're depending on it to water your plants while you're on vacation because the water drips out too fast and container plants need daily attention. Even if you used a larger bottle, the water wouldn't last long enough for a week long vacation. It might be ok to use these for plants that are in the ground but that would depend on the weather and how much water those plants needed. I DO like this system for my indoor plants, though! For my indoor trial, I put one spike in each of my indoor plants, set the drip rate as low as possible and filled the bottle. Even though the water had drained into the soil in about a day, the water wasn't running out the bottom of the planter and overflowing the drip tray onto the floor so I was pretty happy about that. It's easier to water my indoor plants because I just fill the bottle and walk away. I don't have to stand there and wait to see if I made a mess that I have to clean up. I also like that I'm pouring water into a reservoir instead of trying to get it to the base of the plants, which can be difficult depending on the amount of foliage I'm battling and the angle of the planter! The only real negative is that it's not too attractive to have plastic bottles sticking out of your planter. I try to hide that as best I can . The colorful spikes help to distract one from focusing on the plastic bottle. Now, if I can just remember to fill the reservoirs once a week, I'll be all set!

Not pre-assembled. Leaks unless spout is glued in. Drip rate is unreliable at best.
