I have two Pearl kick pedals and 3 other Pearl beaters; this new beater is different than previous models. First, the shaft is significantly longer. For smaller kicks you will have to saw part of it off. Secondly, it is heavier than previous models. And those grooves in the plastic beater are not there in originals .

I actually really liked the tonal options on this— flat or sharp felt, or plastic. Great product for the drummer who needs to switch between kick trigger and natural kick or just wants some tone options for dynamic.
