1. Confirm the size of the hole first

I liked it was as described. Matched the black ceiling fan Matt black perfectly. Appeared to have been part of the fan. Should be offered or provided with fan.

It definitely makes the light fixture area around the ceiling look cleaner as it covers the old broken away plaster that was larger than the light fixture itself could cover. It is pretty expensive though for what it is! A small metal ring painted black. The other option was to find a new light with a larger fitting at the ceiling/base. This works for now, although it's not perfectly flush to the ceiling so you can see a bit of a gap. Some caulk would likely fix that.

I needed to seal my ceiling from where I had previously installed recessed lights. I used Rust-Oleum gold metallic spray paint to paint these. I didn't need to prep the goof rings prior to spray painting them. I used gorilla glue adhesive and some painters tape to hold it in place before it dried. It was a simple process.
