I really, really thought this was another gimmicky gadget that will ultimately be more trouble than they'd help, but given the low cost, there's not much to lose. I was very surprised that they really work. I've had the best results soaking them in cold water for several minutes before use.For cake, you may still need to shave a little to properly level for more than 2 layers, but by not creating a dome, it means a lot less waste when leveling and a little more rise across the whole layer. For just 2 layers, these might level enough to stack right from the pan.They are also very helpful for bain-marie baking with a springform pan because whatever you use to waterproof your pan (foil or oven-safe bag) can be cinched around the pan with these and still promote cooling the sides.These might be the best $10-15 you can spend for home baking.

Strips will not stay on pans very well,even after soaking overnight. Cakes not even after baking,only colorful.

Used once, the pans were not too tall so it was falling off but was easily fixed and yes the cakes came neat out of the oven, it really does help the cake to not have that annoying "top" in the middle. Would buy it again, good value for money.

Ok, I had borrowed some from a friend and found out how wonderful these are for making level cakes every time, no more getting the leveler out to cut off the top. Amazing. I also figured out that I could fill a plastic bowl up with cold water put the strips in, put a lid on it turn it upside down and let them soak as I prepared my batter. That way they are ready to use. One of my best purchases yet. I loved the bright colors they came in very cheery to see when you open the door to check on your cakes.
