This tambourine has an odd, tinny sound. It is good for kids who just want to make noise though.

This tambourine has a good, strong frame, and looks to be wood, painted black. The head is firm and taut with a nice pattern, though I thought it would have a holographic or reflective effect, but it's just nicely colored.The important part, of course, is the double row of zils, which sound perfect. For its size, there's a great amount of sound. The smaller size is ideally suited to kids, and my 4 year old loves it (and spares my tambourines), but it's still easily held and used by my big adult hands.
