This is definitely the tool needed to insure oil is being pumped to the engine. Good tool to have for this reason.

I used this in a 1957 small block 283. Dropped right in, sealed well and held up to some long pumping. Highly recommend.

Used this on a SBC 350.The end of the primer tool easily fits into the slot on the oil pump drive but it is too snug so it pulls the oil pump drive shaft out with it when you remove the tool. Just compare the thickness of the “blade” of the tool with the “blade” in the bottom of your distributor shaft that engages the oil pump drive and you can see how much thicker it is.I drove the roll pin out of the tool and ground the blade down closer to the thickness of the distributor oil pump drive and it worked fine.

I realized this is for gm engines, but bought it for a jeep 4.0l rebuild. I had to remove the roll pin and the aluminum piece to make it fit the jeep. Upon reinstalling the roll pin, it was sloppy loose, I could push it in with my finger. Didn't notice it being that loose before, but if it is that loose, it could cause it to fall into someone's engine and unnecessary time to remove an oil pan to retrieve it.

Worked perfectly on 350 chevy. Worth using and very easy.

Used this oil primer for a new reman Chevy 350 vortec long block. Fits snug but not tight. You could hear the gurgling of the oil and wasn't long before oil started coming out of the pushrods. The slot in the primer where it goes over the oil pump shaft is not beveled but straight cut and may be a problem for some. If it was beveled like the factory it would have been perfect.

For the price, I will buy it again if needed. I used it so many times already and still primes the engines as needed before starting a rebuilt motor. I always use this to ensure the oil pressure does build up and bleed all the lifters and pushrods, to ensure the motor had been primed.
