Returning this item because I could not calibrate this balance with the included 200 gm weight. After many calibration attempts on a flat granite surface, the readout would drift as much as 0.008 gm. The scale is supposed to read 0.001 precision. I think this balance was not factory fresh. The instruction manual was for the touch screen model which my actual unit did not have. The inner box looked as if it had been resealed. So I wonder if this was a return by another unsatisfied customer where they stuffed in a user manual that didn't match the original. I have another Ohaus unit from a different vendor that I am keeping. It's the one that can handle 2200 gm with 0.01 gm precision (SPX 2202). If I buy the SPX 223 unit again, I will not use this vendor (Simon Mall).

I have had this balance for three years. I use it to measure gunpowder for reloading. It weight to the nearest 0.02 grains. I do not turn it off between uses. I calibrate it before each use. It will drift about 0.1 grains if not used for a few days. Very happy customer.

Gives highly reproducible, accurate results. More reproducible and accurate than most people would need. Could use a form fit cover for when the scale is not in use.

Excellent for microchemistry, very precise, but over kill for regular home science chemistry. Good quality. Navigation menu a little complicated and the digital lettering should be better for the price range.
