For those curious, i used two boxes of cake mix and baked for about an our. I used pam's baker's flour and the cake came right out of the pan! i could not frost the leaves or berries as i couldn't really see them when i put the chocolate frosting on. but, i added some rosemary twigs and sugared raspberries and everyone thought it looked great...some white cookie icing and a sprinkle of sugar! will definitely make this again. It was really easy and, I think, it looks like it came from a bakery!edit: next time i will use only 1 1/2 boxes of cake mix so i can add pie filling too. It was delicious.

I've read some reviews stating the cake stuck. I use baker's secret spay & have several intricate Nordic Ware pans and they never stick. Spray generously into every nook & cranny. I love using the pans. Such a pretty display & the pan does the work. With this pan, I use a glaze because I don't want to cover the design. I only frost the holly & sprinkle just a little powdered sugar for snow.

Fabulous outcome! Yule log looked wonderful and impressed the family! Little effort for a beautiful cake. My recipe says ungreased pan, but you will definitely need to butter & flour or use baking spray for this to come out clean and show detail.

Easy to use, makes a delicious cake, very fun to decorate. This was my 1st attempt and I did not grease the pan well enough, so the delicate little details did not bake in— but I made up for it with generous frosting. Look forward to trying again next year. It is a sturdy heirloom-quality pan. A pain in the butt to clean but well worth it.EDIT: Have improved technique so details baked in AND cake doesn’t embed in pan- clean up was easy this year. I still cover the details up with frosting, though!

What I like:Beautiful design.Feels like a solid pan that will last. What I don't like:Cake did not bake evenly.Half the cake stuck to the pan (which made cleaning the pan a real pain) despite following pan prep and allowing cake to cool completely. My thoughts:It's quite a lovely panMaybe I just had bad luck my first time using it.

I didn't quite know what to expect, but when this pan arrived, it was far more heavy-duty than I was thinking it would be, which boded well. After following the instructions for use on the manufacturer's web site - and they really should include instructions with the pan itself, IMO - I make our first Yule Log Cake, using a standard box mix from the grocery store. I brushed the inside with butter and dusted it with powdered unsweetened cocoa - you could also use flour but I was making a chocolate cake so it made sense. It worked great! Nothing stuck to the pan, the cake was very well molded, and it didn't take any longer than the instructions on the box cake suggested it would take for a bundt cake.Great purchase, and we'll be using it every year around the holidays!
