Works great except that the bar to shut off doesn't get lifted by the overflowing ice bin. Have to manually lift it to stop producing ice.

This thing was the perfect replacement. My old ice maker finally gave up the ghost and started creating an icicle out the bottom instead of ice. One screw, the connection in the back and popped it off the lugs on top and it was out. Swapped the harness cause mine had the flat kind and the new one had square where it plugged into the freezer. About a half an hour later it started cranking out ice. PS BEWARE and unplug or turn the breaker off. I turned the fridge off with the interior switch and immediately grabbed the old ice maker to wrestle it out and burned the crap out of 2 of my fingers on the heating element on the bottom. It was in a harvest cycle and that heater is HOT! Give it time to cool.

I've only had this installed for a few days so I can't speak to durability, but it is a solid replacement for the icemaker in my Amana side-by-side.I gave it five stars but, it does have a few aspects I didn't like - The water inlet cup for example, the old cup was a better design so I installed it on the new unit. While it isn't technically difficult, to do this, there will be some involved disassembly/reassembly and if you're not experienced and careful, you'll damage the new unit and void the warranty - In other words, Don't try this at home. The other thing that may or may not have been necessary was using my old bail arm as opposed to the new one. This has more to do with keeping the proper ice level in the container correct rather than the basic functionality of the unit and since the original part had a specific design function, I used it.

Couple points if interest: mine didn't come with a wiring harness and the bottom mounting bracket was nowhere close to lining up. It's no big deal to move the old pieces over just make sure not to toss your old ice maker while waiting on this one to arrive. For the most part, the new ice maker has been cranking out ice on a timely manner.

4/29/24: Unit fit perfectly replacing a 626639 in my Amana frig... but would not automatically cycle to unload ice. Seller said to return it for full refund and order another one. Will update later.5/9/2024: 2nd unit didn't work at all. Nothing worked when installed. I was able to get it to cycle by shorting the T and H test points but it didn't get water into the tray and it did not cycle. Then to add insult to injury I have to pay postage return and a restock fee? Are you kidding me?5/15/24: After further testing the 2nd unit is indeed not working. They refunded me and paid the return shipping. Good people just took a long time to get done. Not sure what to do on the ice maker now.
