I called the refrigerator repairman and was quoted almost $150 to replace and install this part. I easily looked up a video and installed this myself and it cost me almost nothing.

I've been without a working ice maker for months - too long. With temperatures already approaching 100 in Florida, it was time to try something. The ice maker itself was replaced 3 years ago when we bought the house and was working fine. Then, ice slowed or stopped dispensing. The fridge dispensed water fine, but no water would go to the ice maker. It was intermittent at first, sometimes unplugging would fix it, sometimes running a defrost cycle, then it stopped completely. Tried the fill cycle through diagnostic menu and still nothing. That led me to this valve likely being the culprit. At a third the cost of the Whirlpool parts store, water is now flowing to the ice maker again after putting this valve in. Hasn't harvested yet because it's only been an hour, but the main issue is solved it seems. It filled with water and I can feel ice in there already.

Better price than direct from supplier. But only 30 day exchange here. Made in Mexico. So now reordering from direct supplier at higher price but they have 1 year warranty. Maybe they ships the worse parts through Amazon? Hoping I don’t have to do this replacement again.
