How to reduce or eliminate whistling:

  • Use a whistle-free gas flex line.
  • Make sure there are no major bends or kinks in the line (90-degree bends will cause whistling).
  • Use correct gas pressure. Too high pressure can result in whistling even with the correct line.

If you’re putting in a new NG fireplace burner this is a must have connection. If you use a straight pipe version of a burner you will have a whistling sound that is unbearable. Buy this and all will be well.

I like the quality of the line and it was easy to hook up to my gas logs.

I wanted to put my deck fire pit appliance inside my home fireplace, by way of a drilled hole through the brick to the outside for the gas feed. Since my original tank-to-appliance hose is rubber, I bought this metal pipe to go from the appliance to the outside so that only metal components would be in the fireplace.TIP: Flared fittings are a plumbing standard of their own. I had to buy an adapter with male flared 1/2 to male flared 3/8 at the local hardware store to use this metal pipe in series with my original gear. The original rubber hose coming off the regulator had a 3/8 female brass flare which I removed from the fire pit control fitting. One of the included adapters with the new pipe had a combo "outside 1/2 and inside 3/8" which fit onto the fire pit control. The only connector on the other end of this new item was a flared 1/2, hence my need for a male-to-male size adapter to get back to 3/8 male. Don't expect ordinary NPT threaded adapters for brass and steel to convert properly. They won't fit at all to flared fitting gas lines. Plumbing has a ridiculous assortment of variables to make you learn the hard way.

I used this in the manor it was sold for, and am sure it will outlast the logs it services.BUT it would be nice if it were 3/8" not 1/2". And while were at it, it would be nice if one fitting were an orface with an 1/8 holeOr less. (7/64). If there used forThe intended porpose, no applience needs more gas than that, and we would have the option of drilling out if needed.Think about it.

This product is useless. It still makes a whistling noise.

I got this to replace an old corroded galvanized steel pipe with a tiny leak that prior owners had used for propane gas fireplace. This is a great product and much easier to connect and shape than the previous steel line, but once you bend this to shape it, it cannot really be straightened back out, so it's left with permanent little crooked bends all lone the line. This probably doesn't affect gas flow, but buyers should just be aware that it loses its visual appeal quickly if moved around too much. Otherwise, this is a great product.

I used this on a fireplace insert install. No leaks, no whistling. I was happy with the fittings and flexibility. My fireplace was expecting a 3/8 hose probably based on BTU, but I was able to remove the 3/8-1/2" adapter and connect this hose directly. The oversized line probably reduces whistling too.
