The 3/16" diameter bit does not hold a lot of the material needed to do the heavy cutting in harder porcelain tile, so time will tell how they hold up over the long run. Compared to a conventional twist drill bit, it seemed to be a solid enough performer but you cannot use the centre punch method to start with these types of bits. It will walk on you in starting the cut, even when held at angle like the directions point out. So using some heavy masking tape to avoid marring a tile surface worked for me in controlling the bit in starting the hole. I did not experience any chip out around the hole, it was pretty clean and was controlled once the hole was started. Thickness of the tile and mortar was less than 3/4' so time will tell how these hold up in repetitive drilling. I have not drilled a hundred holes as of yet, but it did make clean holes of the small size I did need to accommodate the screws of a wall outlet cover plate, about 2 dozen. Overall they performed well enough.

Each bit makes about 30 holes. Bit squeaks when the diamond have worn off the tip of the bit

I was very impressed with this product. 10 bits for under $20 is a great value. I was fully expecting them to not have durability at that price point but for what I needed them for they worked perfectly. I was drilling drainage holes into the bottom of coffee mugs to turn into plant pots and they did perfectly. I used a lot of water and could easily get a dozen holes before they needed to be replaced. If you were using them for marble or tile you might have a different experience but I think they are worth a try before you spend $30 on a single Milwaukee bit

I got the product in a timely fashion. Although the product description was vague, as far as dimensions and whether the bits were standard or metric....they are metric. The ad said they were standard three eighths. Don't think to much of that. There was no indication of the length. That being said they work well for drilling man made slate. Seem to be durable. The cooling wax I assume that is for damping the heat created, was not consistently packed into the coring end of the bit. Also the ad did not say they were a coring bit just that they are dry diamond type?

I had 8 pieces of PORCELAIN tile that I needed a hole in. I installed one of these bits in my bench top drill press and started drilling. I used water and tried to never let the hole get dry - drill a few seconds, raise the bit so that the hole could fill with water, repeat. I guess I was using a little to much pressure as I got a small breakout on the backs of all tiles. All 8 holes drilled and the bit is still in my drill press!!! Could not be happier.I have now drilled a 3/16 hole in 20 porcelain tiles with one bit. While this is much better than some others have reported I am not too surprised as my wet saw has a diamond blade sand I have made hundreds of cuts in porcelain tiles with the one blade and it still cuts. Take care of your bits.Wow, now up to 49 holes drilled with the original bit!! I still have about 36 more holes to drill so I expect it will wear out eventually. After 55 holes the bit finally died. I put in a new bit and drilled a hole dry. The bit got really hot very fast, I went back to drilling using water but the bit only cut 18 holes. A little trick - place a large flat washer or o'ring over the hole and fill with water. Drill a little and raise the bit, the hole refills with water and ready for more drilling.

I needed to install a fence post on top of a large rock under the ground surface. The rock was hard granite which burned up my carbide drill bit. These half inch diamond bits did the job, although it took seven of them to drill 4 holes two inches deep, and that was using water to keep bits cool. I'm happy with the results, and they were not very expensive.

I don’t understand the negative reviews unless the vendor sources bits from different places. Mine worked fine for drilling through heavy porcelain floor tiles. One does need to start at an angle or the bit will wander. I also tried making a starter hole with a small bit and using a piece of metal with a hole in it to keep the bit where I wanted it. Both of those tricks worked. I got about 6 holes from each bit. I’ll buy these again if I have a project that calls for them.
