This door steep works great. I installed it on the outside bottom of the gargage entry door. When the door is opened, the sweep will be raised up by an internal spring to allow the door to open freely. When the door is closed, the stop installed at the door stop will push the sweep down to seal the bottom. Great product.

I bought this to replace a rigid sweep that was intended to keep critters from coming in an exterior door in a summer property, but which I was afraid might be scraping the floor which slopes up on the inside. This sweep fits snugly enough when closed to keep out drafts as well as curious mouse and chipmunk ingress, and allowed the door to open as far as the sloping floor allows without scraping. I used a hacksaw to cut the metal portion to length and a file to smooth burrs from the cut. The vinyl portion slides out on one end so I was able to cut them separately and reassemble.

good product & easy to install. Other products which are fixed in place (this door sweep lifts out of the way when the door is opened) tend to scrape the floor if the floor is the slightest bit uneven. This product solves that problem nicely and provides a good seal. I bought a second one as a spare.

The sweep works as advertised, installation is simple when the directions are followed. It is not made of ceramic material but aluminium. Requires a hacksaw to cut to length required which is not difficult. Measure and mark the height indicated on the instructions and screw in place.

I put this on my bathroom door to help control draft currents coming under the door. I followed the install instructions as closely as humanly possible and even went to the extent of using a gauge block and a white pencil to mark the top location on the door. I clamped it in place, drilled, and mounted according to the instructions. I discovered that the floor (capeted) over which the door swings is slightly uneven. The edge of the door sweep tends to catch on the carpet before the door is closed. I've put a smooth panel of plastic on the carpet that this slides over easily until I can figure out a better fix. I suspect I'll have to raise the location of the sweep by a small amount to get it to clear. If I were doing it again, I would measure the clearance over the carpet while the door is mostly closed and then verify that the height of the carpet doesn't change anywhere during the swing of the door before installing it.

I needed to install a better door sweep on my old 42-inch front door. This item does not come in sizes larger than 36-inches but I had installed one before and thought I'd try to combine two together to make a 42-inch model. With the help of some epoxy and a metal strap I managed to combine about six-inches of the the moving flap part to the other, uncut piece. Once the glue had set I attached the elongated door sweep to my door and it seems to work perfectly fine.One complaint i have in my special case is that the two pieces I received were from two different manufacturing runs and were not exactly the same and thus did not fit or look exactly the same when put together. Still, it worked and the difference is hardly noticeable. Keeps the rain out and the heat in.

The product itself is sturdy and it does the job. However, I wanted to install this on the outside of a screen door to hide the gap at the bottom and prevent debris and bugs from entering the house. I understood from the reviews that this was possible. Unfortunately, due to the design, the product had to be installed on the inside of the door in order to work property. Directions were horrible. It took three smart guys, used to doing all types of home projects, quite a few hours to figure it out.

I had a 1/4 inch gap at the bottom of my front door, and the door stop works exactly as advertised. I measured the dimensions with the door closed, used my mitre box to cut the door stop, and it was up and working about 15 minutes after that. The directions are a little vague, but its a simple set up once everything is clear. The spring-loaded door stop does not "automatically" lower when you close your door. There is a nylon stop that needs to be screwed into the lock side of the door sill. The door sweep is then pushed down by the nylon stop when the door closes. I just pushed the sweep down with my finger before measuring where to place the nylon stop. Now the sweep works great, and I am no longer worried about air conditioning being sucked out from under my door.

used to come home after work or wake up in the middle of the night to grab a snack only to find huge spiders throwing parties in my hallway and living room. finally narrowed it down to the front door - they were walking in underneath the giant crack there. originally i was going to install a similar door sweep which required routing a groove in the bottom of the door, but scrapped that idea since it seemed too complex and i didn't have the right tools. then i found this one. the instructions are seriously lacking, and i was so nervous about the whole install that i put it off for two weeks, but in the end it wasn't too bad. having to cut the sweep to size was probably the scariest part. after that i used a level and a pencil to mark all the spots i was going to put holes in, and after installing the sweep i closed the door, pushed the sweep down to where i wanted it, and used a pencil to mark the spot to install the screw/washer thing. now i have a nice clean looking door sweep and best of all, no more gigantic creepy spiders waiting for me at night.

The previous door sweep would consistently catch on the carpet in the basement and would allow air, and insects to enter especially when the temperatures dropped. After replacing the door sweep several times, it became apparent that a different approach would need to be researched. Spiders have an innate ability of squeezing through the smallest of openings for warmth.I ran across the Flex-O-Matic Door sweep searching on Amazon. I installed the item as soon as I received it and I am happy to say that this seals the bottom of the door perfectly. I no longer have to keep a towel at the bottom of the door to decrease the airflow from outside. When the door is shut the rubber presses down firmly on the threshold and is impossible for any insects or air to enter my home. When the door is opened the sweep retracts upward and completely clears the carpet. After I installed the item I opened and closed the basement door from the outside multiple times in amazement as the spring loaded sweep raises when opened and presses down and seals when closed onto the stop. I HIGHLY recommend this product.
