Great fan, very low profile and moves a lot of air quietly. If I were building a camper van again I would buy this product without hesitation.

I installed this fan on my camper van about 2 years ago (July '21, now July '23). Last month it started beeping when I turn it on and then won't work. I have to turn it off and on again, and usually after a few tries it will work again. I don't know what is going on... it's been working great without issue, but about 1 year 11 months in this glitch happens regularly. Can't seem to find solutions online. Really startling to have this loud beeping as I'm getting ready for bed, and worry that I won't have a fan on a hot night. Anyone have any solutions?Overall though it's been a great fan. I originally bought the Fan-Tastic vent fan, but returned it to buy the Maxxair because of it's waterproof design. Installation was as expected, bit scary to cut a hole in your van, but I followed the instructions and all went well.

My camper has an old vent e we other a very weak fan. I installed this, and it works great! It moves a lot of air through my Tent trailer, which can make it feel much nicer on hot nights. The fact that this can be left up inn the rain is great, as the improved ventilation helps the camper feel more comfortable. If you are comfortable with basic tools, installation is not difficult. Remember to buy butyl tape and an rv sealant to ensure that it remains leakproof. If you are planning to install, but don’t have experience, there are many YouTube videos that can guide you.

"Revised" 11/29/2024Hey, these fans are excellent!I had some issues early on but Maxxair stepped up and absolutely took care of me. Thank you Maxxair. I should have revised this 1.5 years ago.I would absolutely purchase this fan again, though the current one that Maxxair helped me with works flawelessly so I don't have a need to buy another. Super quiet, high air flow, and I run it all night in our camping trailer have experienced no negative effects, and this is on my trailer batteries for days at a time. It uses very little juice. I highly recommend. I'm sure Maxxair has removed all the ones with circuit boards that were having problems. I would buy with confidence. I only leave the information below from my original review to show where I've come from to where I am now with Maxxair. They solve problems!Read the negative reviews and believe them. I took a chance against my better judgement and purchased this fan. Just like you'll read in negative reviews and in a host of forums, for many buyers this fan runs perfectly for a while, then one day you turn it on, it runs for 10 seconds, then you get a loud obnoxious beep for about 10 seconds and it won't run. Everything I've researched says its board has very strict voltage requirements. RV's simply don't lock on to exactly 12v all day and night. Shore power, battery charge fluctuations and other factors cause a voltage variance. Everything else in my trailer runs fine with these variances, but apparently the Maxxair board was designed to operate in a vacuum with minimal voltage fluctuation. I've reached out to Maxxair but have not yet heard back. For the two days it functioned it was great. I'd recommend shopping other brands. If I get a positive solution from Maxxair I'll quickly update this review.Update 9/12/22 Still nothing from Maxxair except for the auto reply to my email 4 days ago saying someone will respond to me quickly!Update 4/25/2023. Maxxair is sending me a new circuit board. There was no explanation, just an email stating that I'll be receiving one. Hopefully this makes the fan function as it should. If it does, I'll amend this review.

This fan is a real game changer. We installed in our RV above our bed. The fan works well, in both directions, and the shroud allows it to be used in the rain. VERY nice feature! I really like the low speed controls, which use very little battery. The two lowest speeds have almost no draw, are virtually silent, and move a surprising amount of air for such low settings. Leaving here overnight is enough to keep the RV well ventilated.I also really like the ability to change fan directions. It can act to such the hot air out during the day, and at night we can reverse the flow to blow cool outside air down on us as we sleep. If you're not sure you need the fan to work in both directions, GET IT - you'll find you love it! That said, we decided we really didn't need the remote control and remote open option. Our RV is small enough that it's only a few steps to the fan to open and turn it on.Overall, I'm very happy with this fan, and would recommend it as an almost necessary upgrade for any RV.

I have a Jayco 25 ft travel trailer and I left the vent open going down the road and the wind made the crank break. I could have just fixed it with an $8 replacement part but I saw this and had to have it. I liked the idea of having a built in cover so I'd never have to worry about leaving it open again, and that it has a much more useful fan over the tiny one speed fan my old unit had.The installation video on here makes the job really easy. Took me a little over 3 hours. The hardest thing is removing the old caulk which just takes time and elbow grease, just peel if off by hand, a putty knife helps. The fan works great and is very powerful. It is virtually silent on the lowest setting and will cool the unit nicely at the highest setting. It also is reversible and has a auto themostat that is set to 76 deg.One thing I did not count on, installed the controls are high up in the unit housing depending on how thick your roof is (mine is 5 inches). The crank and fan switch on the old vent were much lower in the housing and my wife could easily reach them. She now has to stand on her tippy toes to reach the controls on this one. So I advise spending the additional money to get the remote given that issue (the remote allows you to do everything and even open and close the vent without touching the fan). But otherwise very happy with it. You can tell its a very high quality unit.

This is “the fan.” Works wonderfully. Installed in my bathroom as old vent did not have fan. Probably took a half hour to install after the old unit was off and the area was prepped. The fan is powerful and really moves the air. Great for exhausting shower steam and bathroom odors. If you leave a window open and the fan on high, you will have super ventilation throughout your RV. The unit is quiet, virtually soundless on low speeds, well built and looks great. The electrical leads are extra long which is really nice. Unit arrived on time and was well packed. Good installation instructions. Might buy a second one and install in different area of RV for good push/pull effect on air.

This is our 2nd Maxxair Fan. We installed this one in our RV bathroom. It does a very good job of circulating the air in the trailer, especially on hot days. The temperature setting is a great feature and is easy to set. Even with inclement weather, we can run this fan without issues.Installation:With the right tools, this is a good DIY job.You will have to climb onto your RV roof. You will have to remove your old vent (putty and all). You will have to trim the collar to fit your specific trailer. You will have to hook up the fan to 12V power. You will need to seal & waterproof the vent & screws on the roof. This DIY project took us around 2 hours from start to finish.

I thought long and hard before I made this $400 (when all was said and done) purchase. My camper van had its original tiny one speed noisy 1993 basic fan with absolutely no air flow. So glad to have gotten rid of that old fan. I have now used the Maxair for one season now and it makes so much difference to the airflow in my camper van. I love it and my dog loves it too. Some models have a remote control but this was unnessary because I can easily reach the controls. I love the ability to control the air moving in or out of the van. It's super quiet. Really efficient. I have only one 12v coach battery in the van and it doesn't seem to be a huge draw on my battery. The rain cover allows the fan to run even in a downpour or when I'm driving. I installed the fan myself. It was super easy except the very last step installing the rain cover where the holes in the metal clips didn't line up with the cover. Was a little tricky but the metal clips are movable. This was not addressed in the instructions or the YouTube vids that I watched. No problem though. The fan was delivered promptly with all parts intact. Totally worth paying the price!
