I bought this set of drill guides because I discovered that even when I made a starting hole for a drill bit using an awl, wood grain, especially in hardwoods, often make the drill bit wander, resulting in an off-center hole. I used the smallest to drill pilot holes for hinges in jewelry boxes I am making. The guide made nicely centered holes. This set gives a good range of sizes.

Not expensive but work well. I take some care to keep the wood chips knocked out of the guide tube so as not to build up inside and cause trouble. Happy with the purchase.

These bits are self-centering and ideal for making pilot holes for hinge screws. They're also good for those pilot holes needed to mount T-Track to your jigs and tool fences. The 3-bit set should work for most people but Snappy also makes a 5-bit set. And best of all, these bits are American Made.

Real aid to accuracy for mounting hardware & felt dumb I didnt pull the trigger on these before . Glad these are made in USA; however 1st time I used the #2/#4 drill the 5/32 bit stuck (in MDF for crying out loud) and snapped. Not sure where to get a long 5/32 drill bit to replace. The bits are replaceable so this sturdy set ought to out last me and I hope that s quite a while.

What I like most about this product is that it is made in the USA! Over many years, I've purchased three sets of hinge bits, from HD and HF. They worked well for a while, eventually failed, a broken bit or spring giving out so that the case didn't retract as designed, or seemed to vary in accuracy. When this happened recently, I went shopping and was dismayed to find none that were made in the USA. Lowes, HF, HD and ACE mostly sell chinese-made tools, so-so quality. Gone are the days of quality tools that last a lifetime, that you pass on to your grands. I was thrilled to come across these Snappy hinge bits, made in the USA, with replaceable drill bits. So with great expectations of quality, I'm giving these a 5 star rating across the board. I'll be trying them out on sets of cabinet doors soon, so an 'edit' will be forthcoming.
