Had one years ago that was stolen. Loved it. Was so happy to find a replacement.

Our fence was leaning toward the paved alley, and the other side was leaning out also. I used the trees, some straps, and the come-a-long to help me straighten them out. Very pleased with the results. This tool is so easy to use.

I bought this to replace a come along that had been stolen. I wanted one made in America and thought this one was but that was my mistake, it seems to have been assembled using second grade materials. The controls are simple and straightforward which is a plus if you chose to use it. I would be afraid to use it for anything involving over 200 pounds. Do not buy period, make of cheap materials.

I bought this purely on its reputation for purposes of putting tension on trees for felling. I fully expect to have a hundred different uses for it over the years to come. This thing is built tough, yet functions very smoothly. If you need a come-along for anything, this is the one to get.

Plenty of pulling power for 5/16 zipline tensioning. It was hard to choose a come-along, but I made a good choice with this Maasdam unit. Maasdam was, to my knowledge, the original producer and designer of this style winch, so you can trust that they did it right. Build quality is very good, and all the parts feel strong and of high quality materials. The blue handle looks great, and the long lever arm allows for tightening with ease. I never once thought it would not accomplish the task at hand.Others complained that it is difficult to pull slack, but to me it's pretty easy. I even found a way that you can hold both releases with one hand, but it's tough to get just right.I used this come-along to tension our backyard zipline, and it worked great. I hope to have this come-along for many years to come. I plan on using it to pull roots, small trees, and tension ropes and ziplines. I'll report back if I have any issues with it.

I just used this to move my airplane off a trailer. We used two of these come-a-longs, one being a cheap Chinese brand and the US made Maasdam. The Maasdam was smooth and sure while the Chinese version was always sticking, slower and clumsy. The only issue was the reversing leaf spring got bent. Evan so, it worked great.

I used this to tension 5/32 7x19 aircraft cable and it worked without flaw. It has very robust construction and the ability to yank a lot of weight. The take off mechanism to relieve tension works nicely. The hooks are strong and I did not feel scared to really use this as I have with some others. The swivels were smooth and allowed me to adjust the position with ease. Also, there is plenty of cable to extend the reach. It even has clear directions if you are new to using one. Would buy again. Made in the USA counts in that I do not fear the construction will fail. I like equipment to be made here for critical function such as grade 8 bolts and cable pullers because the chance for failure is one I cannot tolerate. BTW, check out the Klein tools cable puller to help with this task, it is awesome and at ~$100 is still a bargain.

I purchased this to help pull three big stumps out of the ground. This tool did an excellent job.I thought about purchasing a puller from Harbor Freight, one of the Chinese made jobs that cost only about $20. I then sat and thought that I was going to be putting this tool under remarkable stress (these were some LARGE stumps, one about 400-500 pounds) and I was going to have my hands and face close to the tool as I was working. I realized that buying something made of suspect metal, assembled under suspect circumstances, for a difficult and dangerous job made no sense at all. I spent the extra $25 and got this American-made high quality product. It takes some doing and thinking and trial and error to use this tool (I was a total newby). Youtube is your friend, and you should read the directions. Have a can of WD40 on hand as a squirt of lubricant before use is recommended. The wire on this is only about 5 or 6 feet long, so what you're doing is using this with a chain to move a stump or log or whatever about four or five feet. You're then disconnecting, reconnecting, and moving it another four or five feet.I was digging out three big stumps, and this is NOT strong enough to pull a stump out of the ground. You have to dig all the way around, cut the roots, and then this is good for tipping it over the last little bit, perhaps breaking that last root, or at least tipping the stump over so you can find that last root, and then you can use this to pull the stump up out of the hole and then into a trailer. It's sort of slow work, but the device allows one person to move a very large object without struggling and straining. Do NOT use a cheater pipe on the handle, follow all the instructions, and this will serve you well. It's very well made and quite sturdy.
