If you've never done one of these I highly reccomend getting a block of metal to practice on. I used these on my e46 and they have done an outstanding job so far. I will be purchasing these again for my next engine build.

Absolute failure. These are quality inserts. Sure. And first, let me say that I am a very careful and precise person. I check, and double check. And I did everything exactly per the time-sert instructions. Problem is that the description says they are meant for BMW 3 and 5 series cylinder head bolts. Well, that’s sorta true. I installed a set and was very happy, until phase-3 on the final torque of the bolts. 4 of these popped the threads, on the last 1/8th of a turn. The real problem is this.... the bolt holes in the engine block are about 43mm’s deep. At least they are on my E39 engine. These inserts are 24.5mm’s long. And only use about 21mm’s of thread engagement. So. Do yourself a favor and find inserts that are at least 30-35mm long. Then I would trust em. Do not use these unless they match your hole depth. And maybe don’t torque them the full amount.

Quality product, if I had to do it again I'd order longer ones to match thread depth in the block for more gripping power, however these are working fine torqued to 70 pound in alum bmw e60 block , get the best threadlocker plus the primer it needs, most parts stores dont carry the primer.

This was used in an aluminum block 2001 BMW 530i, and so far 10k miles later it is still running well. I was worried st first but this is the real deal. I hope it holds out for s long time.Edit (June 2020) I have had no issues with the repair still after probably 30k miles? Its working great.
