About this item

  • Ludwig Atlas Pro Hi-Hat Stand (LAP16HH)

Atlas Pro Hi-Hat Stand. Ludwig's Atlas Pro Hi-Hat stand's state-of-the art features allow it to perform with rock-solid reliance, eliminating annoying movement that interferes with precise play. The patented Centroid 3-point stability system elevates the rear portion of the foundation plate to create a tripod with the heavy, double-braced legs. Additionally, the Aerodisc bottom cymbal tilter provides flexibility for the drummer to position the bottom cymbal at any level. Throw in the infinite possibilities for the footboard then a bevy of anchoring features, and a new approach to playing stability has arrived.

The product is great. But it would’ve been nice to get instructions on how to adjust everything bottom half of high hat, forever to figure out. Had to go online to get help. The instructions were were not that great. But, Goodwood makes a solid product, very well constructed material, heavy duty. Great hardware. Also, love their drums.

I had a PDP PDHHCO2 before, and this stand is so much smoother and far more stable! The only minor con I can think of is that the different spring settings have too much of a difference, specifically between the first two stops. I'd like a setting in between, and I think I can achieve this by making my own spring stop. If you look at the black collar, there are different slots you can rest the spring stop in to vary the spring setting. If I wrap a hose clamp around the collar, I can vary the spring setting infinitely. They really should have made it a screw collar. Aside from that minor issue, this is probably the smoothest and most stable 2-leg stand out there.

Unique two legged stand that actually doesn't budge, wobble, shake. Solid as a rock. Love the way it folds up for transport. DW, PEARL, TAMA.... they're all for sale on the used market. I'll never use anything else.

I write this to warn not only the consumer but the retailer whom inevitably will be stuck with these broken stands. This stand is well thought out and the engineers did their homework as it is the most stable two legger on the market. 8th note stomping and she doesn't budge. However as my tech pointed out to me, the footboard height adjustment is a cheap aluminum casting that snapped in half after 2, that's right TWO gigs. This heavy duty stand and cheap parts? They cut corners in manufacturing and I paid the price. Luckily, he had my back up DW 9000 on the trailer or I would have been forced to play our final set hi hatless. The issue is the 3 point stability system that makes it rock solid is the same thing that will eventually break the stand, especially if you like to step down on your hats tight for funk and linear stuff like I do. The casting simply couldn't not withstand my foot pressure and snapped in half, rendering it useless. On all other 2legged stands, the base plate is on the floor, thus allowing the ground surface to stop the momentum or inertia of your foot pressure. I've NEVER cracked a hi hat cymbal yet I broke this stand in a matter of hours. Was never as smooth as the DW but I liked the stability feature. Too bad they didn't use better materials and machining...it could have been a nice stand. I contacted Ludwig after returning to the retailer with a supplied pic of the broken part as a "heads up". No response. Stay away and save yourself the headache. The other big boy companies won't let you down. Stay away from this stand. I also had the pillar clutch stand that last about a year and a half before that too broke at the clutch position. I loved it up to that point and really did wonders for the sound of my snare drums. Noticeable improvement over other brands top stands. But again, it broke. Real shame as both products could have been perfect had they been reliable. I guess I will have to stay away from Ludwig since it's the only hardware (hi hat and snare stand) I've ever broken in 20 plus years of drumming.

I've been using this now for 6 months or near constant gigging. Everything important on this stand is quickly and easily adjustable, and holds tight to the settings you choose. Height and tension, angle of bottom hat, and even pedal height/distance of rod movement. My only two complaints are1. That folding the pedal for break-down isn't as intuitive as some others. Steep learning curve is fine once you figure it out though.2. The included clutch has threading the entire length of the sleeve. Replacing clutch is cheap and easy

This is an excellent piece of hardware. Smooth and sturdy. I have been using it now for a few months and find it to be the most responsive pedal I’ve ever owned. Great job Ludwig!! The Atlas line of hardware is modern in its engineering while still maintaining that great vintage Ludwig vibe.

I recently had the opportunity to try this hi hat - and I was hooked! Build quality is exceptional! Highly adjustable, great features, folds flat, will NOT move when used, GREAT looks! (It is a little heavy though).Up until this purchase, I was using a Gibraltar top of the line model, prior to that, a Pearl 1000. ALL great products too.But - Ludwig really shines this time!
