Installed as a replacement for an LG DVD-Writer driver, it worked without any problem first time under Windows 7. The bundled CyberLink Media Suite 10 covers more needs than I have, from data back-up to basic video editing and Blu-Ray burning.

While searching reviews, etc. for optical drives I noticed this product. Although (in my opinion) LG has an outstanding name for consumer products this drive misses the boat.I didn't purchase the drives (two) from Amazon but can't pass up the opportunity to warn folks about this product. Note, out of eight install disks used on my new computer (Asus Z87 Deluxe MB) the LG drives had no problems. Now, here is the kicker ... I had two motherboards and two install disks that one one drive could not read PERIOD and could be read successfully about one out of twenty times on the other drive. Of course I tried to read the Asus install disks on four other computers in my house and on the test bed they had at Fry's Electronics; no problem reading either Asus Install disk on other drives.So, after returning the LG drives to Fry's I picked up two Asus DRW-24B1ST units and they (as you might guess) had no problems on the Asus installation disks.I'm not condemning the LG drives based on two install disks from one specific supplier (Asus) but do want to pass on my very poor experience. We all know Amazon has great customer service along with their 30 return policy (I'm assuming the 30 days applies to the LG drives and haven't looked up Amazon's policy on PC peripherals) and this is a sort of insurance. That said, I suggest testing out the drive with as many disks as possible before the return policy times out.Regards,Joe Kurkjian
