I use this for my electric bike. I wanted a combo lock so I didn't have to carry a key into the surf. I liked it so much I bought a second one for my wife's bike. Cheap insurance for an expensive investment.

heavy duty chain, no need to carry keys, pretty heavy and a piece of mind. I'm still trying to register the lock and pay for the warranty but their site is down. I contacted them and they are telling me to do it with a check and fill put paper form and to mail it...bleh.

This lock is terrible. I have used it around 6 times, and the last time I went to open it, the pin wasn't sliding out all the way. Took me a good hour to get it open.Now it's on my bike, locked, and I can't get it open. I used the write combo, but it is obvious the pin is not sliding quite all the way to allow it to open. How do I get this thing off my bike? Now I have to pay to cut it or get the tools to do that?Very angry about this lock and the money I wasted.

Es segura se ve que es difícil de cortar es práctica porque es de combinación el peso si bien llega a ser un poco pesada se compensa con la sensación de seguridad que aporta a tu bicicleta

I have an electric bike. The bike is a big investment and I wanted a good, sturdy lock when I go to festivals and have to leave it chained to the bike rack. This thing is heavy, heavy. It is a good thing I have an electric bike that has a bag attached to it. I haven't used it yet, just haven't had the chance. Think it will also be good when we attach our bikes to the bike rack on back of car.

This lock is no joke! It’s one heavy chain, but I feel this is what makes it a solid product. The locking mechanism is fairly easy to use, and you can change combination to your personal specifications. The negatives we experienced are the rubber cover that goes on the end consistently falls off, and has led to us not using it any longer. The chain cover has a Velcro piece that slides through a link to keep it on, but that will sometimes come loose and expose the chain. It’s an easy fix, but possibly this could be improved. Overall, I would buy this lock again, if not just because of its heavy duty nature.

Es muy pesada y se manipula con dificultad. Entiendo que por el tamaño del eslabón para más seguridad tenga que ser así, pero solo lo hubiera utilizado en un punto fijo. y digo esto porque lo tuve que devolver según me llegó ya que mientras hacía las pruebas de abrir, cerrar y cambiar la contraseña, el anclaje de la cadena no liberaba el eslabón con facilidad, debiendo hacer muchos intentos pese a estar bien metida la contraseña, tanto la original como la que yo probé. Coincide con otras muchas reseñas que he leido de los cierres de Kryptonite. Una error importante, sin duda.

This lock would not open at the default 00000 setting so is totally unusable. I tried to contact customer service but with no joy. We have had to send it back at a cost to us of €28. Would not recommend

Any lock or chain can be cut through with enough time and determination but this lock gives me some piece of mind knowing how easy it was to put on and how hard it would be to take off. Bolt-cutters won't cut right through like cables do, and without rigid material grinders will bind and shatter as the links twist around. It's thick and heavy just like you want it to be. The combination wheels are smooth and work flawlessly... I love my KRYPTONITE chain lock.

This is a great, burly looking chain combination lock that I use combined with one of the Brinks 5/8" loop cables to lock my bikes to the carrier and my van. I own 3 of them - as a family we have lots of bikes that travel on multiple vehicles. It's the heavy-dutiest looking lock combo I've seen, and if I were a thief I'd go steal someone elses bike. And diverting a thief is really all any lock is going to do. This one looks like it will move the thief on....This chain has a lot of strengths beyond just the looks. Put some lube on the lock mechanism and its nice and smooth. The length is great for locking 2 bikes together and to the cable. The protective sheath keeps the paint from getting scratched (I did put some electrical tape on the ends because they were slipping, but no bother....). And it's way more flexible than a burly cable would be.The one weakness - and I got a free warranty replacement as a result - is that the tiny little torx headed screw that holds on the end cap can come loose and break. This lock is heavy, and it's inevitable that you will drop the combo end, whick means it will likely land on the little cap you pull to open the lock. All this load goes thru the torx screw that is mysteriously tapped (threaded) thru both the aluminum cap and the steel part that releases the lock pin. This is a recipe for failure. The screw should be bigger and it should only be tapped into the steel. Since I own multiple of these locks (lots of bikes), I now have been keeping an eye on the cap and when one recently came loose I unscrewed it, drilled the aluminum out and re-installed it. (This requires a security torx either T8 or T9 - small odd-ball size).Great lock. Kryptonite folks - please fix the issue with the tiny screw! In the meantime, Kryptonite customer service was great.
