Quality was good however this is a little bit smaller so I assume it was geared at children and not adults. I had bought it for my 20 year old son thinking he could use it to drum at our family Christmas party since bringing a full-size drum set is not an option. He was able to use it but again it was small.

This looks ridiculous. If I had to play this; I'd not take the gig.

I bought this for my son for Christmas, what a mistake. Now I hear it every day, lol but at least now he’s learning some form of music, (his form) but it does sound good, and it has replaced the gaming system to a point.

EDIT:forget what I said about the Pyle PCJD16. Cajon placement and direction the port is facing makes a world of difference in terms of tonality of produced sound. A literal 90 degree turn of that cajon == whole new cajon. However...the review of the Kandu still stands: excellent tonality, great portability, highly accessible (you'll just want to grab it and play w/e)OG Review:Actually got this for my soon to be 3 year old. He likes to sit on things and drum on them, so I figured this would be perfect...and he could learn to play has he got older. Anyway, I ended up messing with it a whole day before wrapping it for Christmas. It was super fun to play and the sound is really great. It's got very definite tonality in the high, mid, and low. I played sitting on it (6'3", 170lbs), but also carrying it around and with it in my cross-legged lap...it's that portable.I was so excited by this thing that I grabbed a larger cajon...you know...so I can teach and jam with me wee lad! I got the Pyle PCJD16, and while I like it for what it is, the Kandu has way better tonality / musicality...the PCJD16 is a bit boomy with bass no matter where on the tapas you are playing (except the very far corners and edges)...hard to find a mid sound. Not the case with the Kandu.I really like this thing, it's small and inviting, and has great sound. I really like that I can play it in unconventional ways. Not a bass monster, but makes up for it in tonality / musicality.I'm not a musician or anything...probably using the wrong terms. Anyway it sounds just like the recorded demo in the listing.Might get one of these for myself if they go on sale again.5/5

Because of the video demo I thought this box was bigger than it is. I went to Sweetwater for a brand not on Amazon at this time that has a deeper bass. Some of the cajons have spring wires or guitar wires that are tuned. I just bought a cajun wired percussion stick to get the sound of cymbals... There are a couple of videos that show that among all the varieties of cajuns... the percussion sticks will produce a variety of sounds on all sides of the boxes.

Surprisingly good sound for its size. You may be tempted to think this is made for children because of its compact size, but it's a real instrument that travels well.

With a 20yr old son who’s considered a compromised adult.. he struggles with anxiety, an adolescent cognitive level, adhd and depression among other things. We are always trying to find unique new things to pour extra energy into- any activity with the freedom to create with no right/wrong way. Having a love of music mixed with this self-taught approach- its ideal. Amazing how a Cajon drum box fits our criteria on every level. The fact music can be therapeutic.. is such a BoNuS!!Drum look is absolutely amazing! “Washed” in blue, it has an artistic presence to contribute to a space and naturally has become a talking feature when seen. Cajon blends nicely into a living, bedroom, office or music studio.. Small, unassuming size takes up a very little space (can even be stacked atop a table, shelf for storage.) Having seen a larger version in person- this is every bit as detailed but on a smaller scale. You dont lose any quality of construction sizing down. This feels “built with pride.. I love that!”Comparing sounds to online video- I’ve found it quite similar (minus our skill level, of course!) Acoustics obviously vary dependent on type of flooring drum sits on.. I appreciate the slight muffle that comes from use on carpet- being small and mobile- it’s easy to move where you want it to go.. Mine has been “creating” in his carpeted room and performing his new talents on a hardwood floor option.. Within just x3 weeks of ‘play’ playing- the rhythms composed are improving.. It’s surprising to see how drumming can bring out a hidden talent mixed with personality and all while delivering a cathartic vibe with a sense of pride! Also note: our main user is 20yr old, 6’5”, 220lb.. and drum has no issue supporting his build! Another testament to the quality build.Realizing our approach is different from standard use.. this is a solid Cajon drum that can reach on many levels- one that doesn’t disappoint. Ideal for music enthusiast, therapy in home or office.. this is solid quality and worth the investment. Hope info can help decision- stay safe everyone.
