I don't know what is wrong with this thing. I bought this as a replacement for my old gravel vacuum, which was the same brand, just one size smaller. I have a 37 gallon tall tank, so I wanted a longer vacuum to make cleaning easier. My old one worked great, so I wanted the same brand, just bigger. I wish I'd tried this one out before I got rid of my old one, because this thing is terrible. It has almost no suction! The water just trickles out, it took over 15 minutes to fill a 2 gallon bucket. It doesn't even pick up the poop, which is supposed to be it's main function! It's not blocked, the siphon bulb works fine, the water level of the tank is high enough. There is no logical reason for this thing not to work properly! Now I have to buy another gravel vacuum.

For this supposed large siphon, the tubing running from the larger insert is extraordinary short. So yes I can reach the bottom of my 120 gal tank with the "wand" but can't reach my changing bucket with the other end.

The large is great for a 10 or 20 gallon, a little too small for a 30, and way too small for a 55 unless you want to stick your arm in the tank to reach the gravel.

I bought the small gravel vac since I have been having trouble doing water changes on my 5 gallon tanks. The small vac with the pump allows me to do water changes easily and my bettas are much happier not to be lugged to my kitchen for a water change!
