About this item

  • ✔️Hougen Sheet Metal Hole Cutters are Perfect For: Electrical; Pipe and Tubing; Conduit Work; Sheet Metal fabrication; Maintenance Installations; HVAC / PHCC; Automotive Aftermarket and many other industries
  • ✔️Holemaking – faster and easier than with conventional twist drills andhole saws – in Sheet Metal; Plate Materials; Hardened Steel, Mild Steel; Stainless Steel and Plastics; For use in hand held drills with either 3/8" or 1/2" diameter chucks, or air feed drill spindles for production work.
  • ✔️Hougen Sheet Metal Hole Cutters are not hole saws - they’re precision ground and heat treated high-performance cutting tools that produce clean, burr-free, round holes without ripping, tearing, or deforming the surrounding material. They can produce holes up to 3x faster than hole saws and last 10x longer.
  • ✔️For use in hand held drills with either 3/8" or 1/2" diameter chucks, or air feed drill spindles for production work.
  • ✔️Hougen’s Sheet Metal Hole Cutters allow you to maximize feed rates and distribute the cutting load evenly over many cutting edges, rather than just two edges as a twist drill. Also, by cutting around the hole, Hougen Sheet Metal Hole Cutters convert a smaller area to chips, leaving the center as a slug, requiring less horsepower and thrust than twist drills.

Love these. Best in a drill press b/c they will definitely jump if they don’t land level. Nice and sharp, cut very clean holes. No distortion like punches can make and they’re one step.

Saw on Garage Fab youtube channel as he uses them quite often. Much cleaner holes than twist bits and should last a long time. High quality.

Used it to drill out frame rivets. Worked like a charm until it skipped and snapped. But that’s on me pushing to hard

Did the job very well if you read the rpm restrictions and suggestion inside the cover.Chewed up my heavy car frame rivets like butter. ( I don’t think it was supposed to be used for that but I saw videos on YouTube and decided to try it) .

cuts welleasily eats through mild steelit can be hard to keep it from moving around though.I suggest making a pilot hole to it is centered well.i suggest making a tiny paper washer so the cutter doesn't get stuck on the mandreluse oil or Boeing lube on the cutter

I’ve used these at work for years, but I mostly fab aluminum there. I was a little weary of purchasing a set for steel- but dang I was wrong. These cut down on time IMMENSELY. If you keep these suckers good and lubed they will last. I run my drill press at 400rpm and move pretty slow, and it slices smooth. Keep your work piece steady and/or clamped too. Cut a couple hundred holes with the 5/8 and 3/4 and still look brand new. I’ll add a video if I remember.

This is the most amazing tool ever! I bought it to drill spot welds for some body work that I plan to do; but haven't used it for that purpose yet. Instead, I've used it to drill holes in everything from sheet metal to 3/8" structural steel. (To drill material thicker than 1/4", I drilled a 1/8" pilot hole through the material, then drilled half way through each side, since the tool has a 1/4" capacity.) This tool takes much less power and time to drill a hole through thick steel, and makes a much cleaner, rounder hole than using twist drills. I haven't even compared it to using a step drill drill for sheet metal, because, frankly, the step drills have stayed in the drawer since I bought this RotaCut tool.I like this tool so much, I immediately bought the large fractional set as well. The only downside that I can see is that the cutters are brittle, but that's the tradeoff for having a tool that starts out -- and stays -- super sharp. The cutters are high quality tool steel. I've found that with a slow speed, and a steady hand, there's no problem.
