Did exactly what I needed them to do but I don’t see them having a long life span

These bits cut very well once you get them started. Getting them started is challenging, but that is true for all similar diamond bits. These do have a good amount of diamond grit down the sides, this helps when starting at an angle. After you have a small cut, most the drill to cut straight through. The product description says these can just be dipped in water, but I have always found that a constant flow of water helps a lot to get clean cuts.Price is very reasonable, this kit includes most of the common small sizes for sinks and other plumbing holes. Good value for the money.

For years, I have associated Goldblatt with good (or better) tools, mainly for tile and concrete work. One of my careers was a concrete repair guy and another was a kitchen and bathroom guy. Projects sometimes included tile work so their trowels and floats are no secret to me. However, I recently looked into their product line and I have my eye on a unique trim puller among other items. Nice stuff. These "grit-bits" were ordered for my in-progress bathroom shower (looks like a dark messy closet in the photo) and these will be very handy for drilling porcelain tile which is typically very hard stuff to drill. I put a ton of blocking in the shower framing so I could install safety assist rails in the shower area so I’ll get good use from these bits. The smaller bits are good for fasteners and the 3/4” largest one looks good for 1/2” copper like for a toilet supply as an example. You’ll need a bigger bit for the shower neck which is 3/4” OD; too close to make it work. I would have liked to see a 1” bit included in this set for shower neck penetration.I go back far enough that the wax in the bits is new to me. One thing I do know for sure is that a pilotless drill needs special attention. It is remarkably easy to start a hole and have the bit jump out for lack of center pilot. Yep, you just ruined that multi-thousand dollar tile job. If you aren't sure what I am talking about you really need to learn before beginning. Go online, search for “drilling tile with a pilotless drill bit” or similar and study several videos.SUMMARY: Like most tools, these were obtained for a future need and/or to restock my tool boxGood tools get the job done better than others, and as a major bonus they also seem to be less likely to break and perhaps cause injury. I have great faith in the Goldblatt name. My reviews start with 3.0 Stars and this item earns +0.5 Star for brand loyalty, -0.5 Star for being above average quality. Total 4.0 Stars; Better than average and recommended.FYI - MY GENERAL RATING SYSTEM - All items are considered to be good/average 3.0 STAR until earning a higher or lower score.• 5-STAR = Much better than advertised and/or expected and exceeds 4-STAR• 4-STAR = As expected or better and exceeds 3-STAR.• 3-STAR = As expected. Claims are realistic; ratings & certifications are appropriate and checked out where possible. “AVERAGE” Items are good quality, well finished, and priced fairly however nothing stands out.• 2-STAR = Does not quite meet expectations of 3 STAR.• 1-STAR = Far below expectation. Extended usage will tell if these diamond bits last a long time or wear out prematurely. So far, it easily chews through Vermont Danby marble. I used it to drill eight 1/4-inch holes to peg two marble sculptures to marble pedestals with 1/4-inch stainless steel rod. The drill bit performed admirably, showing little wear and leaving perfect 1/4-inch diameter holes. The bit is only 2 9/16 inches long (65mm). I wanted a 2-inch-deep hole, so had to keep the bit not bottomed out in the drill's chuck. It held without problem, but I would prefer a longer drill bit. Standard jobber length for a 1/4-inch bit is 4 inches. The ten bits came in a nifty case that's better quality than I expected, but also takes up more space in the tool chest than strictly necessary. I'll probably add more bits, use it for something else or throw the case out.A word about the Goldblatt brand: Among professional stonemasons, bricklayers and concrete workers (a few lifetimes ago I held a stone mason union card), Goldblatt has long been associated with quality and durability. Goldblatt was founded in 1885 in Kansas City, Missouri, and bought by China's Hangzhou GreatStar Industrial Co. in 2010. Hangzhou, a major manufacturer of power and hand tools, isn't one of those fly-by-night Chinese companies that cranks out cheap knockoffs. So I'm optimistic that these diamond drill bits live up to Goldblatt's renown quality and last a long time.On re-reading this, it sounds like I'm a Hangzhou employee. That's not the case. I've used Goldblatt tools for decades and chose these drill bits primarily for the familiar brand name. I was dismayed seeing that they were made in China, and initially thought that I'd been fooled by some Chinese company just ripping off the Goldblatt brand. Because I was pissed, I did a bunch of research that I dumped into this review to clarify the situation if anyone else cared as much as I do about quality tools. Sorry for the long review.Update: I installed two grab bars in a porcelain tile shower. It took 3 of these bits to make 12 holes through the 1/8"-thick tile. I'm unsure if that's common or expected for diamond bits of this size. Just passing this on . . .

Got these to make pilot holes for larger cutting and grinding diamond abrasive tools. I have leftover porcelain tile from several projects. I can cut the tile with my water-cooled, diamond-bladed tile saw but did not have a way to drill a hole small enough to pass an electric cord through. This set will make it possible. I have owned several Goldblatt tile and masonry tools for years. The tools have held up through several projects and paid for themselves.

I've found that if it says Goldblatt on it that I can expect quality. I've been thoroughly impressed by all the tools I've bought off of them (their trim removal tool is heads above any other on the market) and these are no exception. They aren't expensive so if I burn one up quickly on accident no big deal, and the wax inside actually does seem to help a bit with cooling. All in all some nice bits.
