I was looking to try direct drive pedals for the first time and didn’t want to spend the equivalent of a decent shell pack and found the Gibraltar 6711DD DB’s on Amazon for 70 less than anywhere else . I couldn’t be happier w the purchase . The slave pedal was stiff on delivery but I simply put it on its side and tapped just like in a video I watched previously and bingo drive was back in line . They are surprisingly smooth and sturdy ( except the drum key holder) which is a minor issue for me . It didn’t take long to adjust from chain drive and I’m finding I can do more nuanced stuff and my speed is up to about where I left off with more room to grow . I may eventually get sone Trick’s or Demonaters but these will do just fine for a good while . They also arrived on time and in good shape . Kudos to Gibraltar and Amazon

I've been playing a sihtty single chain Dixon double pedal and decided to step up my double bass game recently. These Gibraltar's are pretty good: loads of adjustability, good construction. A few design flaws here and there that make it a bit of a pain to set it up - footboard angle adjustment bolt is hiding UNDER the cam instead of on top of it, no rubber on the toe clamp, etc.Apparently direct drives have a non linear force relation with the footboard movement which make the end of the movement have a bit more resistance. That might not be noticeable if you play slow stuff but I've been trying to learn the super fast metal dumdumdumdumdumdumdumdum. So I just can't make this work. I miss double strokes with these MORE than with my old beat up Dixons. I assume it's because I am not used to the mechanism, so keep that in mind: you could be just like me

Ive played since I was a kid I've played tama iron cobra for years, but wanted a cheaper pedal for me electronic drum set . I also play metal. The pedal didn't last 6 months the whole pedal assembly broke . I also broke a screw and I was just snuggling it up. The beaters will also were down very fast on a alesis strike pro se bass head .wow. Just like cymbals and everything else on drums u get what you pay for. But if I had a kid that played. I would maybe a good beginning double bass pedal.

Right outa the box the key holder that’s mounted to the master pedal broke. 🤨. Better have some wd40 around when you start setting up the slave pedal it was hard to move about. Takes about 3 or 4 hours for the pedals to move the batter heads freely. Need to adjust some of the bolts as well. For the price well you get what you pay for. Don’t get me wrong I was not Capable of playing as fast as I can now with my old pedals. 200-240 bpm. Takes getting used to. Once everything is lubricated good they feel and nice. Very fluid/smooth.

Verified purchase. Unpaid review. Its a very cheap build. The only actual metal on these is the footboards (maybe). Everything else (besides springs and bolts) is made out of matchbox car metal. Like compressed metal shavings painted a cheap sparkle chrome. My left beater has been obviously used, the right pedal is stiff with no bounce back. Spring tension adjustment is tricky and you might damage the housing if youre not careful. As a knockaround pedal, good. NOT FOR TOURING, OR GIGGING. im debating returning this.

The best thing (and worst, depending on how savvy you are) about this pedal is that it offers so much adjust-ability. I read the review by Matthew Yukon before I bought it and it almost put me off buying this pedal (but the price at the time was too good, so I took the plunge), however, when I got the pedal I realized that the issue he was having was easily avoidable by simply adjusting the spacing with the provided drum tuning key. Out of the box, I agree with Matthew that it needs some adjusting. I confess it took me a bit of time to figure out how to adjust everything, so I took a week before I wrote this review, but now that I know my way around it, I think this pedal is brilliant, it just takes a bit of time and patience to dial everything in and it can be frustrating, but once you figure it out, you'll be very impressed with it and knowing that it is offers as much customization as it does.

Both pedals are equally sensitive, there is no weak or strong side, professional piece of hardware. You will get high performance, great connection with beater, fast, solid action. They are easy to adjust, you have solid balanced base, good price, adjustable spring tension, and if you played before chain drive pedals, you will need some time to get used to these pedals, as they are very sensitive and fast. I am very happy with this product.

The pedal I got wasn't made correctly. The right beater where it meets the pedal was colliding with the framework of the pedal itself. So if you were to hold back and release the beater it would stop after one pass. You could see the black paint chipping because of it. The left beater was fantastic. It would swing for nearly a minute straight. It was very smooth and I' m sure I just got a bad pedal and would have loved it if it were actually made right.
