Also the distance between the beater head's face and the shaft has been increased. Drummers found this alteration improved their sense of control during faster passages.

My original head wore out and this is a direct replacement that works great. Much more cost effective than buying the entire beater.

Replaced the stock Cobra beat with this one. It's got more articulation and it absorbs the impact better than my old beater. To be fair, it was worn out. Plus this new beater installs on the original Cobra shaft. No need to buy a whole new unit if you own the Cobra.

I have now had 3 of these. All three broke fairly quickly. The felt piece just falls off. It sounds great and is better than the old 900 beater heads but Tama really seems to have issue with their beater heads of all series failing. I have a single Iron Cobra 900 right now and preemptively ordered a third party beater because I’m not gonna risk this failing during a show and/or breaking my kick head.

Getting them onto the beater was alittle difficult and took some elbow grease but after i got it on, i dont think i'll be taking it off anytime soon.Very punchy and focused sound. I'd say it sounds more full than the standard felt beater.The added weight makes fast playing very easy since the swing/rebound is more present due to the overweighted head.

After reading the description of these beaters, I knew I needed to try them out.They took about 10 minutes from box opening to playing...installation was easy. You need a drum key.They do weigh more than the Gen 1 stock Double Speed cobra beaters, which is what I was after. These beaters bring out more definition in the kick drum. My kit is not miked in my practice space and I could certainly tell the difference. I felt my strokes were much more audible and the doubles, riding, triplets and fills etc., sounded better spaced out (it could be that I couldn't hear them as well before). This is a great inexpensive upgrade.As for longevity, obviously, time will tell, but I'm pretty confident in Tama's legendary hardware durability.

These beaters get the job done. Very good punchy sound. They can and occasionally break. It's only happened to me once but the soft side of the beater that strikes the drum fell off after only 1 day of use. It's held on by glue, so my best guess is it was not enough glue or defective glue? I'd still buy these again knowing that.
