After watering, the straw stays in place and won't blow away. It really helps with moisture retention which is imperative in my hot and dry colorado summers. My only qualm is it claims to be seedless, but there have been a handful of sprouts. Just keep your eye out and pick em early

Works well as a mulch but everywhere I put it grass has started growing in my pots and raised bed. Wont be buying again.

I live in the southwest and mulch for vegetable and flower gardens is a necessity. I'd never used straw before, and a friend had recommended this particular brand because I garden organically and am working to build healthy soil composition. I did love that it's an organic product and doesn't include any tack agent that other straw suppliers include, although I understand that is an organic addition, plus it's chopped fine for easy use, but it's just too expensive. I bought the mini to check it out, as I don't own a truck to haul anything big, but it didn't even begin to fill my needs. At $40 a crack, it might be okay for bedding or other applications, but no way could I afford to use this brand to do my entire yard. It might be less at tractor or farm supply, and it is an excellent product and shipping was super, but simply not an economical option for a large garden.
