Product Description

10" x 24T Heavy-Duty Rip Blade

Amazon.com

Designed for serious woodworkers, the 10-inch Freud LM72M010 Heavy-Duty Rip Saw Blade delivers smooth, fast cuts through hard- and softwood. Thanks to a rigid blade body, 24 oversized flat-top teeth with TiCo high-density carbide tips, and the reduced resin buildup ensured by Freud's Silver I.C.E. coating, this is one dependable, long-lasting blade. Plus, its well-balanced, anti-vibration design means there's no need to use stabilizers with it.

Professional-Grade Design for Accurate Glue Line Cuts
Offering fast, "glue line" precision cuts and an antikickback design, this heavy-duty rip saw blade handles tough industrial ripping tasks without requiring you to add any stabilizers to your setup. It's ideal for working with hard- or softwoods that are 3/4 to 2-3/4 inches thick, and it can be used in gang-rip operations. This versatile blade handles crosscuts with chipboard, plywood, or laminate, and can tackle thinner or thicker materials. However, some loss of surface finish may occur when it is used outside its ideal range. It has a 5/8-inch arbor and produces a 0.126 kerf.

The extra-large, flat teeth featured on this blade leave a smooth, splinter-free finish that eliminates the need for sanding and jointing. This large-tooth design also allows the blade to be safely sharpened more times, prolonging the life of the blade and saving you money. And the large gullets between these teeth ensure easy chip removal.

Well-Balanced, Anti-Vibration Design
This Freud blade is precision balanced and pretensioned for truer cuts under heavy loads. It also features laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that reduce chatter for a cleaner finish, longer blade life, and reduced noise while you work. And because the entire blade is laser cut from high-strength steel, you can trust that it will stay stable, flat, and true, even after prolonged use.

High-Density Carbide for Maximum Cutting Performance
This heavy-duty rip saw blade's 24 teeth are finished with tips made from Freud's application-specific TiCo high-density carbide "ripping blend." This blend offers a mix of improved density, hardness, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and impact resistance that's ideally matched to the demands of ripping large quantities of thick, hard wood.

With teeth that start out sharper and deliver improved edge retention, the blade can go longer between sharpening, and will hold up longer--once again, saving you time and money.

Silver I.C.E. Coating Resists Corrosion, Heat, and Resin Buildup
This blade is finished with Freud's Silver I.C.E. coating, which resists corrosion for improved performance over time. This unique coating also resists heat buildup, protecting your saw and your work surface and preventing the blade from warping. It also helps prevent resin or "pitch" buildup.

Since gummy pitch buildup causes extra drag on the motor of your saw, less buildup means longer tool life and longer blade life. It also means less downtime for blade cleaning, so you get jobs done faster.

This industrial saw blade is backed by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.

This is one of the few reasonably priced flat top grind blades I've been able to find that will fit the DeWalt 7485, and it performs perfectly for through-cuts or partial thickness cuts.

This blade works absolutely terrific on my ridgid table saw. Typically I use thin kerf blades for my low-hp table saw for thick hardwoods but this thing is a beast and will rip thru anything. Also being flat toothed, its perfect for cutting 1/8” dadoes for small box panels and such. For the price it cannot be beat. Very pleased with this blade!

I put this on my 1.5HP rigid contractor saw and rip cut red oak, white oak, hard maple and some Baltic birch plywood. It cut very smoothly with no noise and virtually no tear out. This thing cuts like butter. I tried cutting some dados and they were nice and square with flat bottom. I would absolutely buy this again. At $45 it’s the best. Far superior by a large margin than the big box blades. It literally made my saw a real pleasure to use.

The Freud Ripping Blade is simply great. This blade has delivered burn free rips on all types of wood, which is really nice since everyone hates sanding. Since this is also a flat grind, using this for dados means that you have less clean up for a seamless fit. One thing to keep in mind is the power of your saw with this blade being full kerf at 1/8". If you have a saw that doesn't have a blade break, then it may take a second to slow down, or if it's underpowered, it may take a second for it to get up to speed.

I bought this because I had a lot of rip cuts in an upcoming project and some narrow dados. I normally use fine tooth combo blades on my table saw presuming they do cross cuts and rip cuts equally well. Since I have a miter saw I can dedicate my table saw to rip cuts. This blade has fewer teeth than the combo blade I have been using. It rips through cherry boards leaving a very good finish with minimal burning even on cuts over 1" deep. I especially like the flat bottom kerf for cross cutting tenons and for the narrow dados. It leaves a nice flat surface that needs less clean up with the chisel. I also rip cut some cabinet grade plywood with zero tear out. Understanding that this is a brand new, sharp high quality blade and I would expect great performance I am still extremely happy that I am using a rip blade for ripping. Well worth the effort of changing out the blade if you need to. Also I have done some cross cuts and it works fine so you don't need to change it out constantly. Maybe a downside for some - this is not a thin kerf blade.

I’ve used excellent (Forrest) combination and fine crosscut blades for decades, but never a dedicated ripping blade. This was my first rip blade and my first from Freud. The blade rips more easily than a combination blade and leaves a smooth, glue line ready surface which is noticeably a better edge than a combination blade. I love it, but boy this blade is loud. It produces a high pitched whine like nothing I’ve heard before with combination blades, but since I always wear ear protection anyway, this seems a good trade-off for excellent cut quality. The price is less than half what other premium blades cost, which is good for a specialty blade that’s only suitable for one purpose (rip cuts) and I suppose you’d use it only for that, then switch back to a combination or other blade for general purpose work. Recommended.Update 2/24/2025: I commented in my original review above that the blade was probably only suitable for rip cuts and you’d need to change it for crosscuts. Well . . . I was too lazy to keep doing that, so I’ve used it many times now for crosscuts and I can’t see any significant difference in cut quality between this blade and my usual combination blade. I expected bad crosscut quality, but didn’t get it. The blade is very sharp, so (at this point anyway) it produces no cross-cut splintering.

Purchased this to cut half lap joints on long boards using a sliding miter saw. Though it takes many passes to cut a wide joint (0.169" kerf), it does a good job that does not require further finishing before glue up. Roughly half the price of other brands. Heavier and thicker than the other blades I have.

The Freud LM72M010 Industrial Heavy Duty Rip Saw Blade is a powerhouse for those needing a reliable, precise, and heavy-duty blade for ripping applications. Here’s my experience using it:Pros:Cut Quality: This blade delivers impressively clean and precise cuts through hardwood, softwood, and composite materials alike. The flat top grind is a big plus for straight and even rips, which minimizes splintering and tearing.Durability: Made with Freud’s TiCo Hi-Density Carbide, the blade withstands high-intensity jobs, keeping its sharpness even after extensive use. This is especially beneficial for those who regularly work with dense or abrasive woods.Ice Coating: Freud’s Ice coating really does reduce friction and heat buildup, which prevents gumming and keeps the blade cooler, extending its life. This coating is ideal for long cutting sessions and heavier jobs.Compatibility: With a standard 5/8-inch arbor, the blade fits well on most table saws. The 10-inch diameter and 24-tooth configuration strike a great balance between speed and control, giving smooth cuts without sacrificing power.Cons:Limited Versatility: This is primarily a ripping blade, which means crosscutting and finer work won’t yield the same high-quality results. It’s designed for those who need a dedicated rip blade, so it may not be the best choice for general-purpose use.Noise: The aggressive cut can be a bit noisy compared to higher-tooth alternatives, so ear protection is a good idea.Verdict:For anyone looking to make quick, precise rips in tough materials, the Freud LM72M010 is an outstanding choice. It’s a solid investment for professionals and serious woodworkers who need a reliable, heavy-duty blade that lasts. Just keep in mind its rip-focused design and the extra noise, and you’ll be more than satisfied with its performance.

I have been looking for a really good ripping blade for a while now. You just can't find that in the "big box store". It cuts just like a hot knife through butter and the cut is really clean. The FTG makes cutting a dado a dream, not much clean up after the cut.

I used this blade to rip 6/4 white oak. And while it certainly cut better then a multi-purpose blade it did struggle some ripping the boards with my dewalt contractor saw, which it’s possible just didn’t have the HP for those rips. The cuts were overall good, but I had to do a fair amount of cleaning up to get them ready for glueing up a panel. No issues whatsoever with ply wood, and 4/4 boards. Overall I’m happy with the purchase and I was able to get what I needed done with a little extra effort but if ripping thick hardwood stock to glue up panels is what you are after I’d look into a higher quality ripping blade. Should be pointed out that I am somewhat new to wood working so take my review with a grain of salt.
