The flooring nailer worked well out of the box, drives the cleats with ease with minimal splittingI followed the instruction on setting up the nailer foot for 5/8 flooring and still managed to miss a couple as it doesn't quite nestle in properly to get the cleat in the right spot. I did get used to itIf they could improve that in the design, it would get 5 starts

First off I am a carpenter with 26 years experience. I normally only purchase the larger name brand tools but made an exception due to the reviews. My project is small and this will probably be its only use doing two bedrooms. One room is around 200 sq ft and the other is around 250 sq ft. The tool itself has worked flawlessly. I installed the smaller floor but i did have to make a few adjustments. The tool came preinstalled with the spacer for 9/16"-5/8" flooring. My solid bamboo wood is the 9/16". PERFECT! So I thought...... After a few test fires to set the depth I was a little disappointed. I had to set my regulator to the minimum 70# of pressure and it was still aggressive. Aggressive enough that the depth was splitting the tongue of the flooring. I noticed the spacer wasn't thick enough and was making the front of the gun near the tongue of my flooring elevated. I switched to the 3/8"-1/2" spacer. There it was. The perfect setting. Regulator set at the lowest setting (70#)and my 18 gauge cleats were set but not splitting my wood anymore. Lovely. I simply chalked up the incorrect spacers due to it being a non big name brand. Finished the first floor with no hiccups and I'm looking forward to installing the larger floor in the next few days.

What a difference it makes when you have the right tools. After long time research and pondering if I should glue or nail the bamboo floor, I decided to nail it. My floor was Morning star 3/8 thick Bamboo floor from LL. I have about 1300 sq feet going upstairs on 1/2 inch sub floor. This was my first hardwood floor installation. I have to say, this gun made it REALLY easy to install these floors. It did overshot the nail couple times, but that was my fault. Once you get going and feel it out, it's quick. I used Porter Cable pancake air compressor set at 70 PSI. It worked great!Tips:- Take your time. I can not stress this enough. Don't rush. Line things up, then nail it. I did row at a time, nailing first board and then fitting everything together and nailing it.- You do not have to hit the nail gun hard. Just tap it really. You want the cleats to be flush with the groove, without breaking the groove. At first, it took me few rows to get hang of it. Once I did first 3 rows, it was a breeze- I would put 3 drops of oil after every 3-4 magazines- You will hear louder bang if there is no more nails. Pay attention to it.Gun came with three attachements for different floors. I used 3/8. I didn't have to adjust anything. Just plug and play. You will love this tool. It really makes a project easier. I still have little to finish. This is a GREAT gun. It never jammed on me.

I used this to install 3/4" x 3-1/4" Acacia "Tobacco Road" hardwood flooring with 2" cleats. It worked great! No splitting, No jams or tool failures. Only a couple of cleats didn't go in completely but that was my own fault for not hitting the ram hard enough. Those were easily fixed by finishing to tap them in with a nail set.No problem with adjusting the height for the floor/tongue thickness. You may need to pick different non-marking skid plates than the one labeled for your floor thickness depending on if the tongue is located on center or not. For instance, I think I was using a 5/8" plate even though my flooring was 3/4" thick.A side by side comparison with many of the other brands, I can see a few features and details of this putting it above the other comparable brands. I ordered it based on other peoples reviews, and expected a cheaply made import based on the price but I was pleasantly surprised when this arrived and was really nice quality - I'd be as bold as to say it would rival the Bostitch and other big brands. I'll be using it to finish the flooring in the rest of the house.I used both Freeman brand and Norge brand "L" cleats. Some people say in their reviews that you cannot use other brands, but I think they may have purchased "T" cleats by mistake.

Used this to lay 1/2" strand woven bamboo flooring at 55-60PSI and they worked well with very little tongue splitting on the boards. This made the process much simpler than using a hand nail gun (not that anyone in their right mind would use a hand nail gun to do an entire floor).I especially liked the hammer that is included with the kit, the non-rubber side worked great for setting the boards, it also made the transition from setting boards to nailing them quick since I didn't have to switch hammers. Note: I used a plastic block to set the boards or a 4" scrap piece of flooring turned sideways rather than hammering directly on the boards. The kit comes with several spacer options for laying different width floors and an adjustable foot to make the nailer level with the floor, mine needed a few adjustments to get it right but it only took ~5min overall. One down side: aligning the nail edge with the top tongue of the board, it took a couple of tries and a lot of visual concentration to keep it from slipping over the edge onto the top of the board. Definitely practice and take a close look where you should have it aligned. We used the Freeman FN18L150 18-Gauge Cleats with this and didn't have any jamb issues - 700 sq ft.On a side note: Home Depot's website tutorial on nailing hardwood flooring says you can do about 1000 sq ft/ day is WAY too optimistic for someone who hasn't laid floor before. Our floor tear-up and prep took around 6 hours without much floor leveling. Laying the boards took another 3-4 days of 10+ hours of work.
